In partnership with corporate strategy and business innovation builds, maintains and maximizes the value of PPD’s relationships with the biotech financing ecosystem and investments in external biotech venture investing entities (including limited partner positions). Role is to support strong relationships with this community to enable early visibility to asset investment decisions and development opportunities as well as related company formation.

The role will seek to create scientific engagement of PPD thought leaders with venture companies in a manner that creates value for investors in the partnership, but also leads to meaningful billable work for PPD consulting and generates access to clinical development and laboratory work authorizations.

Role will support corporate strategy and the head of PPD Biotech in making investment decisions in venture funds that focus on maximizing PPD’s opportunity to build authorizations and create connectivity in the biotech community.

The role will, working with corporate strategy, track authorizations and backlog and working with biotech operations, oversee the portfolio of venture-influenced backlog and advocate internally for successful delivery of their projects.

Functions Create visibility and access to VC portfolio programs, trials, laboratory, consulting and other outsourced work Build relationships and demonstrate value by targeted contributions to key VC investment decisions, using small, ad hoc teams of PPD domain experts to assess time, cost and clinical, commercial and regulatory risk. Use judgement and find the right opportunities to employ PPD consulting services to support VCs and their technical, regulatory, and operational consulting requirements. In collaboration with the biotech sales team and leadership, secure RFPs and oversee the selling process for trials and other work In collaboration with biotech operations and other operational leaders, oversee the book of business generated through the VC channel and ensure it is getting the resource and attention necessary to help the VC partners achieve their investing objectives. In collaboration with corporate strategy, oversee and manage the relationship with each VC entity including managing the strategic partnerships, governance meetings and executive-to-executive meetings as necessary In collaboration with corporate strategy, evaluate VC new partners and manage, develop, unwind as necessary In collaboration with corporate strategy, track effectiveness of VC interactions and partnerships

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 10 years).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated success in a similar role that has consistently achieved measurable results and business impact as a result of intelligence analysis and related work product Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and visual reporting formats Solid business acumen across multiple disciplines Ability to build data-driven business cases Exceeds at building/maintaining relationships across disciplines internally and externally Demonstrated ability to facilitate multiple projects simultaneously delivering all at a high-level under tight timeline constraints Ability to articulate analysis with strong presentation skills and contribute to executive-level discourse Well-developed quantitative and qualitative data review and analysis skills Understanding of the biotech/emerging pharma landscape and early identification of companies to target as customers

Working Conditions and Environment: Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Occasional drives to site locations with occasional travel both domestic and international.
