  Job Summary Provide support to laboratory operations in client laboratory spaces under the direction of the on-site supervisor and group leader.  Ensure quality data and results in multiple laboratory programs.  Monitor and ensure the delivery of preventative and corrective maintenance for laboratory equipment and instrumentation.  Ensure sample quality and integrity in GxP and non-GxP laboratories.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Endotoxin and Mycoplasma Assay Program

•    Independently run assays within 48 hours of request, organize results within a BOX folder and communicate the results directly to scientific staff.

•    Assist in improving the program with up to date best practices.

•    Manage and maintain inventory of kits and buffers, including aliquoting buffers; re-order as needed.

Sample Management

•    Assist in the coordination of shipping and receiving of clinical and non-clinical samples per SOP or WPD guidelines and DOT/IATA regulations.

•    Generate customer reports and track shipments until delivery.

•    Verification and inventory of received samples, and sample movement documentation in Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

•    Create and update sample management binders.

•    Fulfill sample requests in a timely manner, communicating with Research Staff of the status of requests.

•    GxP and non-GxP sample and data archiving.

•    Assist in maintaining metrics for quarterly readouts

Equipment Maintenance

•    Independently perform monthly collection of pipettes for multiple research departments for calibration per SOP.

•    Assist in overseeing maintenance of Smart sheet to track inventory of pipettes due for calibration, verification of calibration certificate, and movement throughout lab spaces.

•    Perform weekly EtOH rinses on plate washers.

•    Weekly maintenance of Cedex reagents, including filling reagent bottles, emptying waste bottle.

•    Weekly intensive cleaning of Cedex.

•    Bi-weekly HCl cleaning.

•    Perform and document monthly performance evaluation for specified instruments.

•    Perform routine cleaning and documentation of cleaning of biosafety cabinets and fume hoods.

•    Cleaning and maintenance of incubator and water bath.

•    Monthly performance evaluation of specified laboratory instruments.

•    Coordinate monthly freezer defrosts.

•    Documentation of non-routine maintenance and deviations.

•    Maintain equipment inventory.

•    Archival of electronic and paper equipment records.

•    Troubleshooting laboratory equipment issues.

  Job Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

•    Education:   High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in life sciences field preferred.

•    Experience:  Three or more year’s related laboratory and sample management experience required in combination with facility and equipment knowledge.

•    An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

•    Certification/Licensure:  DOT/IATA shipping certification preferred.

•    Other: Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions and exhibit interpersonal skills that are   conducive to effective communication and that contribute to a congenial work environment. Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner with clients, customers, coworkers, and supervisors. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.

•    Computer literacy in word processing and database record keeping essential. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
