  Job Summary We are seeking a CRT3 (Study Technician Floater) for our Insourcing Solutions Department located in Cambridge, MA.

 

The Corporate Response Team is responsible for providing continuing service to Charles River Laboratories clients throughout the New England area and are assigned to various sites based upon need, experience and skills. The Corporate Response Team home base is Cambridge, MA. Team members are required to be flexible with regards to changing work locations. This is a Full-Time position, with paid holidays and a wonderful benefits package.

 

Essential Duties: Perform any combination of the following duties at IS client facilities on a temporary basis, as assigned by site supervisor or client POC and in accordance with research requirements and established site SOP’s/practices. Cares for the animals used in research and development studies. Performs duties related to the maintenance of experimental animals such as feeding and caring for animals, cleaning cages, holding animals for treatment by laboratory technician or maintaining inventory and animal identification records. Performs cleaning/sanitation of animal facility and equipment. Responsible for bio-safety and bio-security of the animals. May partner with pre-clinical investigators to assist and support veterinarians with administrative needs, benchtop procedures such as necropsy, and assist with technical procedures, such as blood and/or tissue collection, injections, surgical prep, administering anesthesia, and assisting with surgical procedures. May provide dosing, tumor measurements and advanced technical procedures as required.with surgery, dosing, post-op care and monitoring of animal studies.

  Job Qualifications

The following are minimum qualifications related to the CRT3 (Study Tech Floater)position: Education:  High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.). Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Animal Science, Life Sciences or related discipline preferred. Experience:   Two (2) plus years of animal care, handling and technical experience with in a research laboratory program. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above. Certification/Licensure:  AALAS certification at the LAT preferred. Other (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):   Technical experience required includes rodent dosing/inoculation techniques such as PO, IV, IP, SQ and IN, Blood collection from multiple vessels or cardiac, and perfusions; Tumor measurements, body weights, IBD and EAE scoring, behavioral monitoring, etc; Rodent telemetry and physiological recordings; Necropsy, tissue and fluid collections. Ability to effectively follow verbal and written instructions and exhibit interpersonal skills that are conducive to effective communication and that contribute to a congenial work environment. Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner with coworkers, research staff, client and managers. Strong organization skills and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal English communication skills. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to organize and prioritize multiple responsibilities and function independently, as well as within a team environment, with minimal supervision. Ability to effectively resolve problems or issues by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, and industry regulations.
