Job Summary We are seeking a Director, Government Operations for Insourcing Solutions site in Frederick, MD. 

 

The Director, IS Government Operations will be responsible for oversight of Insourcing Solutions (IS) Veterinary professionals and Government Laboratory Animal Operations, including all government contracts or others as assigned and the coordination of all operational support activities, including client relations, employee oversight, training, quality assurance, and Corporate Response Team (CRT) efforts.  Ensure personnel and contractual performance is consistent with company standards and client objectives. Responsible for financial management, facility oversight, and client interaction to ensure animal care program support is delivered in accordance with contract Statements of Work (SOW), customer expectations, AAALAC standards and all legal/regulatory guidelines.

  May provide consultation services, review animal use protocols, serve as an IACUC member and attend committee meetings, perform site visits, and provide clinical support to selected contracts/training center. Prepare and review cost proposals and budgets, and approve accounting invoices for personnel services, equipment and facility maintenance, and the purchase of supplies, equipment and utilities to support government contract operations. Site visit contract facilities to assess the quality of animal care and research support services. Make recommendations for any necessary changes in operational strategy. Support IS business development and sales marketing efforts, including:  information gathering and sourcing clients for new contracts, working on contract proposals, etc.  Supervisory responsibilities for direct reports include:  Monitor performance of direct reports, provide regular coaching and counseling, prepare and deliver salary and performance reviews; assess and approve performance and salary appraisals initiated by direct reports. Ensure that training and development needs are identified, and programs initiated. 

  Job Qualifications   Education:  Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) or equivalent in biological sciences or related life science discipline. Advanced degree in business or biological science preferred. Experience:   Four or more years working with or for the Federal Government preferred. Experience with a broad range of scientific research involving large multi-species essential. Experience serving on an IACUC preferred.            Certification/Licensure:   Professional accreditation reflecting advanced knowledge in laboratory animal medicine, animal science or life sciences. ACLAM certification preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
