Assistant technician in Vivarium Operations - Toxicology

 

We are looking for an assistant technician in Vivarium Operations who wishes to be part of a dynamic, collaborative, and animal welfare minded team at our Senneville, QC (Ouest of Montréal's Island) site.

 

Salary:  Basic: $16,25/hour,  Weekend and Evening: $2.50 premium added to your hourly rate After 37,5 h : Overtime paid at time and a half Holiday: Paid at double time

 

Schedule:  Monday - Friday with some weekends if needed

 

RESPONSIBILITIES SPECIFIC TO THE VIVARIUM OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT:

  Prepare and decontaminate the animal rooms before their arrival ( Cages, Computers, Tables); Ensure the receptions of all animal species, and place them in their correct the rooms at arrival. Maintain the cleanliness of the premises before and after the studies;  Ensure adequate and accessible food and water supplies for all animals at all times;  Ensure that the required study materials are available;  Handle the animals for any activity that requires it;  Record computerized data and complete verification documents; Understand, adhere to and implement organizational standard operating procedures (SOPs);  Remove domestic and biomedical waste and dispose of in appropriate containers; Operate the cage washer. 

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS :

  Ability to maintain regular physical effort required to lift, push and move equipment and animals; High school diploma 3; No experience working with animal is needed but it is an asset; Ability to read and understand English, Bilingualism is an asset; Ability to work in a team environment; Ability to manage time effectively; Ability to work in a team environment;  Ability to adapt to change; Flexibility to work a variety of hours including weekends, as well as the possibility of overtime evenings and nights as needed; Working knowledge of computer applications related to the position.
