  Job Summary  

The Design Director sets the journey standards to ensure user-centered design solutions that feature ease of use, employ best-in-class interaction design, and optimize the user experience. They are chief collaborators with the business, technical, and product leaders to understand the vision, objectives, and transformation plans to help identify opportunities for competitive advantage. Design Directors are hands-on, active problem solvers and the visionary force behind the journey design and strong influencers of the technical solution to achieve an exceptional customer-centered outcome. 

Responsibilities:

•    Help teams define and shape the experience strategy, facilitating work sessions with stakeholders and users to define key design goals and requirements. 

•    Guide designers on design strategy related to research insights, execution, continuous integration, and automated deployment

•    Manage designers across product teams to achieve consistent, delightful, and impactful user experience. 

•    Coach designers on best-in-class, industry trends, and opportunities to push boundaries of design and strategy execution.

•    Engaging with delivery of work, where the work occurs to help empower and provide the right tools to deliver sprint goals

•    Identify and remove team impediments

•    Work with POs to align the roadmap to vision and continuous insights to ensure voice of the customer is heard

•    Constantly look for better ways of solving technical problems and designing the solution, not afraid to challenge the status quo

•    Synchronizing customer research and map customer journeys for the constituent across teams

•    Synthesize customer insights across research by each team at the journey level Job Qualifications

•    Bachelors Degree in Computer Engineering or related field.

•    Minimum of 10 year technical experience, Minimum 5 years of Leadership experience. 

•    Cross Team (multiple teams)  and Cross Product  (multiple products) experience required.  

•    Ability to direct clear and creative artifacts (e.g., task flows, wireframes, mockups and prototypes to guide consistency across teams) 

•    Seasoned design expertise with deep insight into newest methods, trends, and design operations

•    Significant experience driving design outcomes in an Agile infrastructure, environments, and deployment strategies

•    Can make design decisions at a team and product level

•    Experience working on projects that span multiple organizations and business units 

•    Experience in Agile Development as a designer

•    Understands relationship between Product Owner, Scrum Master, and rest of the team, with a strong sense of design thinking

•    Experience managing design priorities within the backlog 

•    Strong communication skills with ability to align the organization on complex product decisions while advocating the voice of the customer

•    Active coach and mentor whose goals are to grow and maximize the team’s potential

•    High energy and passionate individual who inspires teammates to reach their maximum potential

•    Embraces a culture of trust and complete transparency

•    Promotes free thought – is energized by ideas from others in team

•    Brave and rebellious, willing to challenge status quo
