  (Senior) Scientist In Vivo, CNS Injury  

We are looking for in vivo neuroscientist/neuropharmacologist with proven track of experience in rodent models of central nervous system injury (stroke and ischemia, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, etc) and utilizing preclinical models for in vivo efficacy and PK/PD studies to join Charles River Discovery Research Service site located in Kuopio, Finland. The position is permanent and full-time. Expertise in surgical approaches (e.g. aseptic survival surgery, surgical delivery routes, surgical induction of CNS models) will be a strong asset.

As a scientist at our company, you will have an excellent opportunity to utilize your scientific expertise and skills to help our clients advice their drug discovery programs and be a part of a multi-disciplinary preclinical research team. In this position you will be leading Client projects in CNS drug discovery field ensuring the scientific excellence of study design, execution, data analysis and reporting. We are excited to see your input on program/study strategies and provide steps forward based on the outcomes. In addition to Client studies, you will be involved in R&D activities including validations of new assays, models, and techniques to support competitive advantage of portfolio of the Company and specific Client’s needs Job Qualifications MSc with 7+ year of relevant experience or PhD degree (Neuroscience/Pharmacology) with 2+ years of relevant experience with a focus on preclinical in vivo injury models is required Proven expertise and hands-on experience in developing and validating animal models and assays in CNS injury models area utilizing an array of in vivo endpoints (eg. behavioral, imaging) practical experience in conducting is required Understanding translational aspect of rodent injury models Previous experience in utilizing in vivo models of neurological diseases in pharmacological research is required Proven ability to work in a team in collaboration-based fast-paced environment Proven track of independent project execution, including supervision of technical staff and project management A dynamic, can-do attitude and a flexible approach to problem solving. Sound scientific judgement which has impacted on the direction and delivery of projects or departmental initiatives Ability to lead, coordinate and prioritize and get things done* Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills* Ability to work flexibly across projects and adapt to new priorities in fast-paced environment* Fluent spoken and written English, scientific writing skills
