Job Summary This is a role providing both accounting & finance related expertise in support of Charles River's Government Contracts.  Support all financial aspects of assigned government contracts from proposal, execution and monitoring, through contract closeout. Work in a cross-functional environment with Operations, Business Development, Legal, Finance and Accounting team members. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

•    Run weekly and monthly financial reports for Labor and Non-Labor expenses and support client reporting requirements to ensure accurate expenses

•    Monitor and update freight and crate standard costs for proposals and invoicing

•    Process monthly journal entries reclassing expense between cost centers and projects

•    Compile and analyze cost data; prepare forecasts and estimates at completion (EAC) to ensure contract budget and/or specific limitations are not exceeded for CPFF and T&M contracts

•    Track, monitor, and act as the primary finance liaison for Government Commercial Item contracts

•    Read, analyze, and interpret contracts and related documents and apply information to invoicing and financial reporting practices

•    Upload invoices into client portals as required (IPP / WAWF)

•    Support month end close revenue accruals process

•    Support team with AP & operations to reconcile vendor payments and PO receipts on assigned contracts; GR/IR Reconciliation

•    Support of Business Finance Controllers with annual operating plans and forecast updates

•    Follow compliance with SOX, FAR, CAS and other regulatory requirements

•    Prepare timely monthly & quarterly contract reporting for both internal & external customers

•    Perform all other related duties as assigned Job Qualifications

•    Education:  Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent.

•    Experience:  Four to seven years related experience in project-based / cost accounting with emphasis on program control/finance, billings, and contract administration. Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and government contracts is considered a plus.

•    An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

•    Other:  Experience working with NIH, DCAA and/or DCMA preferred.   Strong spreadsheet skills, time management and planning skills, written and verbal communications skills.  Must possess ability to work independently and within the team to meet deadlines and prepare responses with a high degree of accuracy. Must be highly organized, detail oriented, proactive, resourceful and able to exercise sound judgment.
