Job Summary We are seeking an Animal Health Technician for our Insourcing Solutions site located in Carlsbad, CA.  

This position is offering a $1,000 sign-on bonus.  This position offers an hourly rate of $22.00 and an excellent benefits package. 

The following are responsibilities related to the Animal Health Technician: 

Under close supervision, provide cage wash, general husbandry and/or investigative support following established protocols/guidance documents.

  Review, comprehend and comply with all SOP's and quality assurance standards pertaining to specific area. Monitor daily animal health and welfare while performing daily animal health observations, animal husbandry duties to maintain quality and health of research animals, to include: perform daily water bottle /automatic water line and cage checks; provide appropriate food and water; perform cage changing and/or cage cleaning as required; record animal health concerns per SOP and/or specified protocols. Strictly follow all procedures necessary to maintain animal housing areas including room or facility personnel entry; personnel protective equipment use, spraying in all equipment and materials into controlled areas. Receive, inspect and put away incoming animals. Operate equipment and use supplies according to safety guidelines; perform general housekeeping and adhere to safety procedures. Ear tag animals when delivered to the facility for investigative use based on facility SOPs. Assist with restraint and handling of animals as assigned.

  Job Qualifications Education/Experience:   Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or related discipline or CVT/LVT/RVT and no experience OR High School Diploma/GED and one (1) year related husbandry and technical experience required.

Certification/Licensure:  AALAS certification at the ALAT level/CALAS initial level preferred or within 24 months of job entry
