We are seeking a Software Engineer II, System Integration for our Microbial Solutions site located in Charleston, SC.

 

The Software Engineer, in this role, designs, documents, codes, tests and debugs software and systems for Microbial Solutions as a member of the System Integration Team. This person will develop a good understanding of various software components, applications and libraries and is able to connect all data or processes by writing new portable, reusable software modules. This effort includes collaboration with instrumentation designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of products, processes, test systems that require software solutions. This person also determines computer and user needs; analyzes system capabilities, creates software interface requirements, utilizes design patterns and best practices; prepares documentation and operating instructions; designs and develops utility programs, and software tools for Charles River products.

 

The following are the job duties & responsibilities related to the Software Engineer II, System Integration: Develop and maintain software interface programs for desktop and web applications in C# or VB.Net. Integrate new hardware interfaces into software solutions Possess skills to debug and understand existing software solutions and isolate reusable components Create and maintain software technical documentation Troubleshoot software issues reported from the field to find root causes and solutions Deeply understand customer needs and take full ownership of the product Proactively look for opportunities to improve processes and tools used for development Job Qualifications  

The following are the minimum qualifications related to the Software Engineer II, System Integration:

 

Education:

  Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or related discipline.

 

Experience: 3-5 years of experience creating software professionally Experience in writing and maintaining software C#/VB.Net desktop applications, interface components, sql database (postgresql, mssql), Azure/AWS cloud integrations  Understanding of interfacing with automation equipment

 

Skills and Abilities: Good knowledge in integrating multiple software components or libraries using advanced C#/VB.net programming language. C# programming experience with .NET Core, and Asp.NET Core with Git source control and Visual Studio. Experience in C# with Azure/AWS cloud integrations preferred but not required. Experience in formal development process including unit testing, version control, static code analysis and continuous integration with Agile methodologies preferred. Attention to detail, ability to constantly innovate, superb critical thinking, and excellent coding skills. Strong communication skills, ability to describe complex technical issues clearly and succinctly.
