In return, we’ll help you build a career that you can feel passionate about. Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated Technician to join our Discovery site located in Beerse. The Technician will support the Antibacterial Infectious Diseases group on the Janssen EMEA site. He/She will be expected to interact closely with Charles River colleagues as well as the client team.

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

•    Perform standard in vitro microbiological techniques (e.g. MIC testing, CFU determination, time kill kinetics).

•    Prepare bacterial stocks and cultures of pathogenic bacteria (e.g. Mycobacteria, S. aureus, P. aeruginosa).

•    Analyse biological data generated for the project together with scientific members of the project team. 

•    Support in vivo studies with mice (infection, blood collection, dosing, weighing of animals, …) where required.

•    Communicate about obtained results internally and with client teams via email or in meetings. 

•    Report obtained data in electronic lab book to departmental and patent-acceptable quality standards. 

•    Troubleshoot assays and participate in assay risk mitigation. 

•    Demonstrate ownership of own tasks to meet required deliverables. 

•    Maintain a clean and safe laboratory work environment. 

The following are minimum requirements related to the Technician position.  

•    M.Sc. with minimum 1 year working experience in a relevant environment. 

•    Experience in a Pharma or CRO environment preferred. 

•    Experience in cell culture, cellular and biochemical assays and ability to troubleshoot experiments. 

•    In vivo experience and appropriate certifications to work with animals is a plus.

•    Experience in working in a Biosafety Level 3 laboratory is a plus. 

•    Ability to establish an understanding of the relevance of the data being generated on the project. 

•    Ability to multitask and work to tight deadlines.  

•    Flexible mindset and ability to adapt and adjust to changing priorities. 

•    Excellent communication and networking skills as well as a high level of self-motivation.
