Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Vivarium Technician II (Study Technician) for our Insourcing Solutions site located in San Francisco, CA.

The successful and highly motivated candidate is primarily responsible for the hands-on in vivo support of the DMPK and Toxicology groups with occasional support of other in vivo groups.   

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Performs routine dosing and blood collection in mice and rats via multiple routes, as well as tissue harvest and daily health monitoring. Responsibilities will include some weekend assignments.  

Provides additional support including, but not limited to, shaving fur, taking body weights, re-housing animals, plasma/serum collection, etc.  

Prepares routine media, reagents, and custom solutions for use by the group.  

Performs general laboratory maintenance including collecting, washing, and storing procedure tools, arranging and dismantling laboratory apparatus and operating laboratory equipment.  

Complies with company health and safety policies, general laboratory practices and IACUC/AAALAC policies.  Job Qualifications Education: 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and six years of related experience and/or training; or, 

AA/AS degree and four years of related experience and/or training; or, 

BA/BS degree and two years of related experience and/or training; or, 

The equivalent combination of education and experience. 

AALAS Certified preferred. 

 

Experience: 

Proficiency with in vivo dosing techniques (PO, IV, IP, SC), blood collection techniques (tail vein, submandibular, cardiac puncture, RO, etc.), and organ harvesting from mice and rats required. 

Experience with animal facility housekeeping, safety, and inventory procedures and records. 

Basic experience working with computers including MS Word and MS Excel required. 

Experience in conducting PK and Toxicology studies recommended. 

Experience with Studylog and ELN (Electronic Laboratory Notebook) recommended.
