In collaboration with Ahuntsic College and Pharmabio Développement, Charles River Laboratories, recognized as one of the best employers in Montreal for 4 consecutive years, has set up a THEORETICAL AND TECHNICAL LABORATORY TRAINING program, accredited and subsidized by the Quebec government. You will have the opportunity, while being paid, to follow a training program which, once completed and passed, will allow you to obtain an ACS in BIOTECHNOLOGIES (LABORATORY TECHNIQUES) and a PERMANENT POSITION at Charles River.  

 

 

Program details :

  Program start and end dates: January 30, 2023 to february 2nd, 2024  25 hours of training per week  Monday to Friday, from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm  Training location: Collège Ahuntsic  Training paid at an hourly wage of $15.00  You will be hired for the Senneville  site  Your salary after the training will be $19.50

  Requirements :   Possesses an education deemed sufficient by the College and meet one of the following conditions:  The candidate has interrupted their full-time studies or pursued full-time post-secondary studies for at least 2 consecutive sessions or one academic year;  The candidate is covered by an agreement between the College and an employer or benefits from a government program;  The candidate has interrupted their full-time studies for one semester and has pursued full-time post-secondary studies for one semester;  The candidate holds a diploma of vocational studies.  Have Canadian citizenship, landed immigrant status or any other recognized status entitling them to study in Quebec.  Satisfy, if applicable, certain specific admission conditions determined by the College's regulations, including the following three (3) :  

Demonstrate an adequate knowledge of the French language, notably by passing a French admissions test administered by the College, if the training deemed sufficient was completed outside Quebec or in Quebec in a language other than French; 

Enroll in the prerequisite or refresher courses prescribed by the College before being able to enroll in the program courses to which the prerequisite courses apply. In certain cases, the College may authorize the student to take prerequisite or refresher courses at the same time as courses in the program in question; 

Have obtained a result deemed sufficient by the College following a test, an interview or an examination. 

 Bilingualism (french and English) is  required,

Flexibility to work a varied work schedule, including evenings and weekends 

 

 

Additional Requirements :

  TS or SN from Secondary 5 or Mathematics 526 or equivalent;  Chemistry from Secondary 5 or Chemistry 534 or equivalent;  STE or SE from Secondary 4 or Physics 534 or equivalent. 

 

A strong foundation in biology, biochemistry and chemistry is required. The applicant must have sufficient training and/or experience in post-secondary science skills in biological or chemical techniques.

  Your role following the training:   Perform different laboratory techniques such as preparing or diluting a solution to different concentrations.  Use, calibrate and maintain different types of laboratory equipment such as analytical balances, pipettes, centrifuges, flasks, beakers, graduated cylinder, etc.  Handle various chemicals such as bases, acids, solvents, etc., as well as biological products such as blood, plasma, serum, urine, etc.  Accurately document all steps of solution preparation or analysis following an established method.  Verify inventories of disposable materials, chemicals or reagents required for analysis.
