Parexel has an exciting opportunity to join our HR team as an Employee Relations Specialist (HRBP). This role is a hybrid role which requires 1-2 days per week in our Durham, NC office and the flexibility to work from home other days. The ER Specialist (HRBP) is responsible for leading complex investigations into claims of discrimination in all forms and in other specialized areas. In addition to investigations, the ER Specialist is responsible for: (1) working with HR leaders and Corporate Counsel to formulate, implement, and monitor the effectiveness of policies related to the prevention and case management of discrimination, sexual harassment, and areas of workplace compliance; (2) serving as a SME in support of investigations in other countries and regions; (3) supporting business units as an HR Business Partner.

Accountability Supporting Activities

Employee Relations Case ManagementManages specialized investigations related to claims of discrimination, including discrimination based on race, religion, creed, gender, sexual orientation, and other protected classes.Conducts all investigations and case management in accordance with applicable policies, local law, and established best practices.Provides specialist and technical expertise on initial ER case management and case identification by HR staff and relevant leadersTrains and coaches Regional HRBPs, Line Managers, and others on effective management of ER issues, including accountability for appropriate prevention and mitigation.

Specialized Investigations & ComplianceConducts various types of specialized investigations, including in cases of whistleblower retaliation, dual employment, and pre-hire investigations.Assists corporate legal counsel with investigations, audits, and compliance monitoring in areas of mutual responsibility

Program ManagementResearches, develops, and recommends policies, procedures, and practices related to the prevention of discrimination, the prevention of sexual harassment, and in support of other key compliance areas.Assists with the development and review of training materials that support the execution of key compliance programs and other corporate initiatives related to employee relations.Recommends and leads projects and programs within HR and in conjunction with other stakeholders to maintain and improve compliance and problem-prevention across a wide area of HR responsibilities.Leads team efforts related to communicating changes in operational HR policy and practice with the assigned region; serves as champion of intrateam and intradepartmental communication.Proactively seeks to improve and strengthen corporate activities related to Employee Relations and other areas within the regional and specialized remit.

Business PartneringProvides HRBP support to business units across the organization, as needed.Assists assigned client groups with the client’s efforts in the areas of organizational effectiveness, talent development, project management, and coaching.Aids client groups with the identification, root cause analysis, and implementation of interventions related to employee engagement, retention, and improvement.Leads efforts within the HRBP community on performance management initiatives, including proactive employee engagement efforts to avoid the development of performance problems.  

Knowledge and Experience:5 to 8 years of Human Resources experienceAt least 2 years of experience conducting specialized investigations, serving as case manager, and/or managing elements of corporate compliance programs1 or more year of experience serving in an HRBP role or as an HR Generalist with proven track record of advising and influencing leadersAn excellent command of US labor law and compliance, with a demonstrated track record of managing compliance issues across multiples states; international compliance management experience desired.

Education:Bachelor’s DegreeMaster’s Degree (HR or similar field) is preferredPHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP is preferred
