  Job Summary Charles River Laboratories is seeking a Maintenance Technician 1 within our Facilities Team at our Safety Assessment site located in Shrewsbury, MA.   The technician will perform routine daily and preventative maintenance and assist in construction and refurbishment of physical plant  and expansion projects, including basic carpentry, masonry, electrical, heating/air-conditioning, plumbing, painting, mechanical and floor/wall coating installation.  

Additionally but not limited to : Perform supply, delivery, distribution, and acquisition tasks as directed. May perform waste vacuum maintenance. Participate in snow removal and ice remediation activities. Assist in moving office contents within site. Maintain accurate records of maintenance repairs and services. Respond to emergencies as needed.  Provide 24-hour on-call maintenance coverage, as scheduled in rotation. Job Qualifications Education:   High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.) Experience:   One to two years’ experience in general building maintenance with mechanical and construction background. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above. Certification/Licensure:  None. Other:   Must be able to understand and follow verbal directions.
