We are looking for a Technical Trainer I to join our Insourcing Solutions team, located in Bethesda, MD.

What you will do!

In the Technical Trainer I position, you will utilize existing quality standards and procedures to work with Corporate Training Staff to develop Annual Animal Welfare Trainings, Monthly Animal Welfare Posters, and others, all with an aquatic animal focus. You will direct, schedule, perform, and document all technical, husbandry, and administrative training for the site; as well as collaborate with management to develop, write, and implement new training and policies utilizing creation/selection of teaching aids; and develop, maintain, and update training materials and instruction, such as group demonstrations, meetings, and workshops. This position will work with management and the customer to determine where training opportunities exist, and perform continuing education/training to maintain/enhance employee skills. 

 

The Technical Trainer I also coordinates training schedules based on site need, including identifying and developing adjunct training team members to train in specific job functions and/or topics. You will offer hands-on technical training to employees and offer on-the-spot corrections, as well as testing trainees to ensure progress and evaluate effectiveness of the training program. This position also performs quality assurance functions, including reviewing procedures, reports, facilities, equipment, and data for all functions relevant to contract performance; as well as schedule and conduct personnel performance audits. Other duties may include equipment operation; general housekeeping; provide technical support, animal husbandry, and assistance with research procedures; as well as interact with customers to provide technical assistance and to resolve customer concerns. Job Qualifications  

Who are we looking for?

A candidate that possesses a B.S. in Biological Sciences required. Minimum of three years’ related animal care and handling experience required. AALAS certification at the Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATG) level required. One year of technical experience performing related duties preferred, as well as previous training and successful hands-on performance of animal care technical procedures preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for what is listed.
