The Medical Director is a key member of our creative, collaborative, and fun (yes, fun) scientific team. The Medical Director will lead the development of promotional scientific content across a range of traditional and digital formats. As a key point of contact on content-related matters, this critical team member is expected to develop deep scientific knowledge of both the therapeutic category and the compound, with an eye to making sure the work is future ready and accessible to a number of audiences. You are at ease leading client conversations, fostering client relationships, protecting Cadents reputation for flawless execution, and embracing the philosophy that were better together when collaborating with colleagues in all departments and mentoring junior members of the scientific team. The Medical Director supports and drives Cadents organic growth through excellent client service and RPI/RFP participation.Duties may include, but are not limited to, all or some of the following:

  • Responsible for the development of promotional scientific content, including but not limited to slide decks, videos, podcasts, monographs, etc
    • Serve as the subject matter expert on the therapeutic landscape and compound
    • Conduct and oversee background research (literature search, KOL interviews, etc) necessary to inform tactical goals
    • Develop and articulate a point of view to guide communication strategy and tactical execution
    • Collaborate productively with other functions (creative, digital, editorial, etc) to ensure flawless execution, scientific credibility, and accuracy
    • Prioritize and organize workload; manage multiple overlapping work streams
    • Communicate clearly and articulately when writing and speaking
  • Support client objectives at national or international meetings and advisory boards, including on-site attendance
    • Collaborate with clients to develop clear objectives for feedback or insight gathering
    • Evaluate feedback and insights for impact on clients strategy or tactical plans
    • Develop clear, concise, and strategic summaries that crystallize insights and provide recommended action items
    • Mentor a team of biomedical writers and associate medical directors
      • Ensure efficient workflow according to budget and specs
      • Provide constructive and actionable feedback to improve work product and collaboration
  • Build client relationships through strategic partnership and understanding of client goals
    • Provide strategic and tactical recommendations to clients as appropriate

Desired Requirements:

  • Advanced degree, PhD or PharmD preferred
  • 5 years of promotional medical education experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with account teams, other writers, editors, key opinion leaders, and clients
  • Analyze and synthesize complex information from multiple sources
  • Communicate medical/technical information to a wide variety of audiences
  • Work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, team-oriented environment
  • Efficiently prioritize multiple tasks and provide effective direction to others; can quickly evaluate the resources necessary to accomplish a goal and put those into action
  • Manage a team of writers, delegate work to appropriate staff as needed, and ensure project execution
  • Facility with MS Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $130k to $145k. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high of the Syneos Health range for this position. Actual salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. In addition, some positions may include eligibility to earn commissions/bonus based on company and / or individual performance.
