The Director is responsible to strategize, lead, and manage a significant client partnership(s) within GCO to ensure Parexel delivers quality projects to its clients and achieves agreed operational targets. The Director is responsible for the clinical partnership strategy, directly or indirectly managing and developing staff that support that partnership and their performance, continuously striving for operational excellence, controlling overconsumption, and interacting directly with clients in a way that results in repeat business. The Director is responsible to ensure that appropriate management practices are in place on the partnership (e.g., retention and development plans) to retain staff and maintain project and business continuity. The Director is responsible to actively promote new business by participating in project bids and client presentations as appropriate. The Director is an experienced leader responsible for liaising with senior levels of management within GCO. The Director has oversight of the partnership across GCO, working with leaders in Site Management, SSU, Feasibility to review and influence GCO’s performance with that client.  The Director will also be the point of contact for GCO in Therapeutic Strategy for their TA area of expertise, partnering with Medical Centers of Excellence as requested.

This position is dedicated to one strategic partner

Infectious Disease experience is required

Vaccine experience is preferred

Key Accountabilities :

Account Management:

Oversee execution and delivery of clinical activities

Primary point of contact for GPL, Commercial and other business colleagues on the account

Client engagement including attendance at client governance/partnership level meetings, point of clinical contact for client  

Clinical pipeline forecast, resource review, lead GCO operational project reviews

Proactively communicate partnership updates across GCO

Proposal review of all L1 and high value opportunities on the account

Participate in and contribute to project bids, including client presentations. Provide on-going support to the Commercial organization

Lead clinical SMEs relevant to partnership trainings, systems, process changes

Act as the client contact for local business when required

Take appropriate action following regular feedback sessions from client’s clinical groups

Ensure agreed levels of productivity/billability and staff turnover are maintained on a partnership basis

Team Management:

Strategize and oversee team including appropriate resourcing of staff, staff assignments, quality control and efficiency of project deliverables. Ensure production of accurate and efficient resourcing plans for the account in conjunction with appropriate stakeholders

Ensure quality metrics by efficient execution of their account(s) in line with operational plan and ensure quality check of department deliverables and take appropriate remedial action

Ensure direct reports drive departmental and project productivity for client

Meet and aim to exceed client expectations by retaining and developing a skilled, experienced, and motivated team

Undertake the full range of duties relevant to the leadership, management, and development of the team to ensure their performance meets and or exceeds both the business and their own personal goals/objective

Lead clinical Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the account(s)

Drive training needs development on the account in collaboration with other GCO leaders to ensure availability of appropriate training.

Ensure partnership training plans are in place and appropriate

Ensure team members improve their efficiency and effectiveness at prioritizing work and improving performance evidenced by the work produced, client feedback, audit results and QC measures

Participate in formal staff review processes e.g. performance and salary reviews to corporate standards and timescales

Skills:

Ability to successfully manage a full workload across multiple and varied projects/tasks with enthusiasm and prioritize workload with attention to detail

Demonstrated outstanding client partnership experience including strong negotiation, influencing and organizational skills

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to analyze and prioritize data from various systems to create strategy, identify trends and develop solutions

Demonstrated experience in stakeholder/relationship management with a client focused approach to work. Able to understand the business implications of decisions, impact on clients and think on their feet in responding to concerns

Advanced ability and demonstrated strength in managing and leading diverse teams

Demonstrated Executive presence and experienced in creating and delivering client ready presentations

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

A flexible attitude with respect to work assignments and new learning

Experienced in leading in a matrix environment and value the importance of teamwork

Advanced ability to manage and motivate direct reports, dotted line reports, and wider team.

Knowledge of the international pharmaceutical market and the services required by sales, marketing and operational support to achieve product success

An ability to assess situations and make and carry through difficult decisions

In depth therapeutic knowledge in one or more of these targeted areas: oncology, immunology, cell and gene therapy, rare disease

Significant work experience including substantial management experience and knowledge in clinical research industry

Language Skills:

Fluent in written and oral English

Education:

Educated to degree level (biological science, pharmacy, or other health-related discipline preferred) or equivalent nursing qualification or relevant clinical other equivalent e xperience.  Advanced degree preferred.
