What You'll Do

We are looking for an experienced biotransformation specialist to grow our DMPK / ADME team, to support both multidisciplinary and stand-alone ADME programs at our Cambridge site in the UK.  

As there is a practical element to this role some on site presence is required, therefore it is anticipated that that you could effectively utilise a hybrid working pattern in this role, however if you prefer, we would be happy for you to work on site all the time.  

In this client facing role your main responsibility will be to provide expert DMPK support for metabolite identification studies for integrated small molecule Drug Discovery projects, typically using non-labeled compound, to expedite project progression through to candidate selection and early pre-clinical testing. 

You will be lead and grow this area and define our strategy to ensure that the needs for integrated drug discovery projects are met. 

You will build relationships with DMPK and Chemistry Project/Discipline Leaders and other subject matter experts in the Charles River family.  

Essential Skills and Experience

•    Demonstrated expertise of metabolite identification and structural elucidation studies using non-labeled compounds (ex vivo and in vitro samples), from analytical method development, data processing to the final reporting •    Experience of cross-species metabolite profiling using non-labelled compounds to aid species selection for preliminary toxicology studies  •    Knowledge of modern high resolution mass spectrometers and software for identifying metabolites to understand the metabolic fate of small molecules  •    Strong strategic and influencing skills together as you will be responsible for the growth of this area within our business unit. •    Comprehensive troubleshooting and problem-solving skills both technical and scientific •    Strong organisation and time management skills alongside an inbuilt flexibility to adapt to change •    Excellent communication skills and be an effective team player; these will be essential to successful execution of projects whilst working in a matrix and multi-skilled environment. •    To be a positive role model and value the importance of coaching and mentoring colleagues.

Desirable

•    An interest in analysis of large molecules using mass spectrometry •    Prior experience in the training, supervision and development of others •    Experience in the bioanalytical method development of challenging analytes
