Role Overview: 

This is a high-profile position that is responsible for bringing in planned revenue forecasted for the year.

The Senior Principal works directly with clients to provide value added input, to develop business opportunities that will lead to additional starbursts and to deliver projects built around strategic issues. Has responsibility for ensuring delivery of high levels of client satisfaction. Works across IQVIA’s broader Commercial Analytics practice and will develop understanding of the client’s business across multiple practices and/or type of clients (non-limited to Pharma), ensuring that the full range of IQVIA offerings are incorporated into meeting range of client’s needs.

Responsibilities:

The areas of responsibility for the Senior Principal fall into 3 main categories below although the scope is not limited to this:

Business Development:

  • The role responsibilities involve business development, selling broad range of Commercial Analytics Offerings and Client Solutions leveraging IQVIA’s primary and secondary data assets
  • The Senior Principal seeks out and identifies new revenue opportunities at existing and potential clients – ensuring a continuous flow of business from client engagements. The incumbent will take a lead role in proposal development to ensure actionable, on-target and timely proposals are provided to clients
  • This role requires a strong capability to navigate a matrix organization and leverage strong working relationships globally and locally. Senior Principal will need focus particular attention on their relationship with the IQVIA sales community across both EMEA and Global GKAM/GAD (sales). They should also look to work collaboratively with the consulting group and CES in all Regional Business Unit globally (RBUs) to help generate proposals with an incorporated Commercial Analytics component

Project Coordination

  • Provide input and overall guidance to the project management team on projects
  • Act as the project leader for the client in the initial scoping phase and project kick-off phase
  • Ensure that the methodology used is appropriate to achieve the objectives
  • Ensure that the right project management team is in place for the day-to-day management of the project
  • Quality control any interim and final deliverables of the project
  • Present the final results, if not, should be present to provide guidance and additional insights to the client

Team Leadership

  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior members of the broader team
  • Help innovate the offerings and processes by providing input on methodologies, process set-up and ensuring that progress is made in a timely fashion
  • Build relationships and encourage collaboration between the global commercial services and technology teams within IQVIA, through participation in bi-monthly meetings and taking initiatives to ensure the building of a collaborative global community. The aim should be to become a point of reference within the company to provide a point of view of where PMR should be applied or incorporated into projects and proposals
  • Participate in regular update meetings with the local finance teams where the main business is generated to ensure the pipeline is updated, projects are progressed accurately through SFDC and the timings of the quarterly and yearly forecast are met
  • Participate actively in global internal meetings where ideas are exchanged, updates on company strategy are provided, new acquisitions are introduced, and networking is established
  • Provide feedback on company strategy and on team performance throughout the year plus provide global direction to the commercial analytics team members under their care
  • Whilst this role requires the individual to be very team orientated the Senior Principal will be expected to maintain a certain degree of autonomy and leadership

Education, Skills and Experience and required

  • Degree or higher in life sciences preferably
  • In-depth, senior experience within a consulting life sciences or related organization in Japan
  • Previously held a role where they have driven the strategic direction of thought leadership and intellectual capital for an area of specialty or region and worked to ensure the organization was ahead of the market regarding the utilization of new or innovative best practices
  • In depth and long-standing relationships with client companies, especially at a senior level
  • Has strong client relationship and influencing skills coupled with excellent interpersonal and networking skills.
  • Requires deep expertise in one CoE yet demonstrates the ability and knowledge to link across multiple CoE expertise areas.
  • Requires demonstrated experience in leading cross practice teams in the capture of projects of significant size and scope.
  • Works willingly and effectively with others in and across the organization to accomplish team goals.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the marketplace and professional/trade associations key people and companies.
  • Has broad knowledge of the life sciences industry.
  • In-depth understanding of IQVIA data assets and IQVIA core offerings.
  • Possesses exemplary business development skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the fundamental processes of business, their interaction and the impact of external/internal influences on decision making, growth and decline
  • Knowledge of consulting methods, tools and techniques, related to functional area.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and planning and change management skills.
  • Ability to profitably price engagements.
  • Able to manage complex relationships and juggle priorities.
  • Values people’s opinions and encourages knowledge sharing. High level of energy drive and enthusiasm.
  • Fluency in both English and Japanese would be preferred, but English is essential. Applications should be sent in English
