The DevOps Engineer assists with the identification, development, customization, implementation and support of complex systems and solutions to address business requirements.   At ValueCentric (an IQVIA company), we are looking for a talented and enthusiastic candidate to join our team. We are a very close group with big ambitions, so communication and collaboration are key to success in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure software flexibility, scalability and reuse. Work with colleagues to promote best practices and standards in software design and development.
  • Manage and provide support for continuous improvement and viability of integrated 3rd party applications.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external groups to document, deliver, and maintain high-value solutions that conform to business requirements.
  • Maintain and optimize integrations adding quality assurance including static code analysis, security scanning, dependency analysis and test automation runs
  • Own the relationship with an external vendor to manage our PHI De-ID processing site that is crucial to our specialty business.
  • Align with and support SDLC and Change Management/Change Control policies
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of company/division technical strategy and direction in order to deliver consistency, maintainability, and quality balanced against delivery deadlines
  • Engage with development/test teams to adopt continuously improving best practices for software delivery
  • Work with other IT groups to improve automation of infrastructure provisioning and configuration
  • Work with production system operators to improve application health monitoring and feedback to development and TechOps teams
  • Document best practices and guidance
  • Assist with various projects as assigned by a direct supervisor

Skills:

  • The tasks are varied and complex, so the desired candidate needs to be able to change focus at a moment’s notice, pick up new technology on the fly, and become effective quickly.
  • Understanding how to script, whether it is in Python, Perl, Ruby, or basic shell scripting, is critical to the role in order to take manual processes and automate them.
  • Our environment is primarily Linux and therefore vast knowledge and experience in Linux will be essential for success.
  • Security is a priority. Understanding security models and compliance is critical
  • Maintain existing software applications and infrastructure helping to evolve it with continuous improvements
  • Outstanding communication skills are required. The ideal candidate will be able to explain complex concepts in clear and understandable terms. The will be pro-active with their messaging and ensure the entire team is aware of all ongoing developments.
  • A great attitude and willingness to constantly learn is what we need, specifically someone who maintains a positive attitude and encourages the team to constantly improve. Treating people with respect, dignity and kindness is the behavior we’re looking for.
  • At times, this position requires working with applications and hardware processing sensitive data and therefore HIPAA or PHI data procedural knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent experience
  • Good understanding of DevOps concepts
  • Experience with Linux and Windows VMs (VMWare)
  • Understanding build and release engineering or configuration management
  • Experience with source control tools (Git, Subversion, TFS, etc.)
  • Experience with configuration management and automation tools is a big plus
  • Understanding of Agile development, continuous deployment and continuous integration
  • Experience with Oracle and SQL Server
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot and solve problems independently
  • Willing to work in a fast pace and multitasking environment
