Job Summary We are seeking a qualified Animal Care/CW Floater for our Insourcing Solutions sites in the Washington, DC metro area.

The responsibilities of the Animal Care Floater are:

Providecontinuing service to Charles River Laboratories clients throughout the Washington DC metro area, and are assigned to various sites based upon need, experience and skills. The Animal Care Floater (LRT) home base is Bethesda, Maryland. Team members are required to be flexible with regards to changing work locations.This is a Full-Time position working Mon-Fri with a probability of altered work schedules, weekends and holidays, typically 40 hours a week.

Monitor daily animal health and welfare while performing daily animal health observations and animal husbandry duties to maintain quality and health of research animals, to include but not limited to: perform daily water bottle /automatic water line and cage checks; provide appropriate food and water; perform cage changing and/or cage cleaning, utilizing microisolator techniques, as required; record animal health concerns per SOP and/or specified protocols. Review, comprehend and comply with all SOP's and quality assurance standards.

Perform technical support to include but not limited to: animal handling and restraint, weaning, euthanasia as directed. Maintain accurate records of health, housing/isolator or support areas as required by Institute and facility. Provide environmental enrichment feed and other enrichment stimuli and /or provide behavioral assessments. Receive, inspects and puts away incoming animals and complete related receiving duties. Operate equipment and use supplies according to safety guidelines; perform general housekeeping and adhere to safety procedures. Assist with receipt, stocking and maintenance of supply inventories.

Qualifications: Education: HS diploma or GED. Experience: None required, preference will be given to candidates with a minimum of 6 months experience in cagewash, rodent and NHP animal care. Certification/Licensure: Ability to achieve AALAS certification at the Assistant LaboratoryAnimal Technician level (ALAT) within 18 months from start date. (will provide more detail)
