We are looking for a Data Architect who will lead and be a change agent for Data Architecture, Data Integration and Data Warehousing globally supporting the IQVIA integrated ecosystem.

In this role you will continually evolve and support the basic tenants of good data architecture across the organization.  As a Data Architect you will have administration, architecture, design development and implementation responsibilities at a project level but must also be able to think at the enterprise level and drive towards our strategic initiatives with big data and solution integration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to Data Architecture by providing ongoing analysis of enterprise data stores to ensure the overall architecture remains appropriate and optimal for current and planned usage.
  • Mapping/transforming data between the IQVIA Global Data model and other IQVIA data models and devising approaches to speed up data transformation and data delivery (i.e. profiling, auto matching/bridging, Machine Learning associations/classifications, etc).
  • Analyze structural requirements for new software and applications
  • Participate in requirements gathering, technical specifications, architectural design and support development as it relates to database design, access and utilization.
  • Contribute to the overall direction relative to systems of record and how data compliance, governance and regulations affect the handling of data among applications and the overall design recommendations.
  • Coach team members on escalated issues and provide training on company’s data
  • Receive complex work problems/questions, develop accurate estimates and create project and component work based on specifications.
  • Be comfortable with complex data sets by understanding SQL code of medium to high complexity in addition to common data preparation tools to support requirements gathering and support other groups participating in the ecosystem

Technical Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; Specialization in Data and /or Pharma Science is a plus
  • Experience with data modeling tools (required)
  • Strong SQL and data preparation tools skills
  • Strong experience in database and data warehousing concepts and techniques. Must be proficient in relational and star/snowflake schema design, BI, Data Warehousing, Operational Data Stores, ETL, Master Data Management, enterprise  data management and data governance practices. Experience with data lakes, schemaless data stores and NoSQL databases is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment
  • Ability to work with end-users to gather requirements and convert them to working documents
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including a positive, solution-oriented attitude
  • Must be open minded and innovative in utilizing tools and experience to effectively deliver to new business problems in a very dynamic business environment
  • Must be able to interface with various solution/business areas to understand requirements and prepare documentation to support development

The following Technical Skills and Qualifications are nice to have:

  • Experience with Big Data stacks: Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, Hive, Impala, HBase, MapReduce/Yarn, etc), Spark, Pig, Kafka, MongoDB, Cassandra
  • Well versed in Linux environments, administration and shell scripting
  • Well versed in Git
  • Experience with modern cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure
  • Familiarity with Object Oriented languages, such as Java
  • Familiarity with Functional languages, such as Scala
  • Experience applying Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment methodologies
  • Experience with unit testing frameworks and/or test driven development
  • Experience with Data Virtualization tools
  • Experience with Docker and container orchestration platforms, such as Kubernetes and Mesosphere
