Job Summary We are seeking an Animal Program Support Specialist for our Insourcing Solutions Department based at our CRADL facility in  Cambridge, MA.

Supports multi-site vivarium activities including but not limited to ordering animals, maintaining databases and metrics, ordering supplies, managing shipment coordination, tracking billable client detail, and vendor management for clients as well as Charles River Accelerator & Development Labs (CRADL) internal business needs. 

The following are responsibilities relate to the Animal Program Support Specialist: Leads and oversees all animal procurement through approved electronic platform, including but not limited to adding/updating client housing accounts, placing animal orders, imports, or standing orders, change requests, receipts due, reviewing animal health reports, and wait listed orders. Conduct ongoing work within approved electronic platform, including but not limited to setting up vendor accounts, facilities & rooms, printing cage cards, processing animal transfers, updating protocol animal register, running, and processing reports. Facilitates clients Animal Ordering Account set-up with approved vendors. Leads and oversees ordering of all client consumables, drugs or products, and equipment ordering. Responsible for making animal import and export shipping arrangements. Coordinates these activities with veterinarian and facility supervisor. Ensures any shared rooms or equipment booked are recorded, tracked for use and charges are communicated for monthly invoicing purposes. Job Qualifications

The following are minimum qualifications related to the position Animal Program Support Specialist: Education: Associate degree (A.A./A.S.) or Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in animal, laboratory or life science field preferred. Experience: Minimum of two (2) years directly related laboratory animal experience in a laboratory animal facility.  Experience as team or work lead, preferred Certification/Licensure: Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) certification from AALAS. Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATG), CVT, LVT, or RVT certification preferred.  An equivalent combination of education, experience, and certifications may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above. Other: Ability to perform independently with a minimum of direct supervision, able to handle multiple tasks. Working knowledge of laboratory animal facilities operations. Demonstrated ability to adapt and respond timely to the needs of research personnel and Client staff to ensure that excellent customer service is always provided Ability to effectively follow verbal and written instructions and exhibit interpersonal skills that are conducive to effective communication and that contribute to a congenial work environment. Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner with coworkers, research staff, and managers. Strong organization skills and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal English communication skills. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Office, word processing and database record keeping required.
