The Team

IQVIA’s Patient Centered Endpoints (PCE) group is fast-growing and highly successful, focusing upon bringing strong scientific methodologies to the measurement of the patient experience in R&D and Real-World settings for clients in the international pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. The team works in multiple locations across the US and Europe, and are experts in strategic consulting, clinical outcome assessments (COAs), psychology, epidemiology, regulatory strategy, statistics and psychometrics, and digital data collection.

In addition to standalone projects directly for biopharma clients, the PCE team provides COA subject matter expertise to interventional and real-world studies awarded to the wider IQVIA organization. Most of our work has a strong international component and we collaborate closely with PCE colleagues in Europe, and with pricing and market access, real world evidence, data science, consulting services and enterprise solutions locally and overseas.

IQVIA’s PCE business is growing rapidly in response to changes in the regulatory and payer landscape that are driving drug development to be more patient-centric. The team environment is entrepreneurial and energetic and provides the opportunity to develop all aspects of this ‘business within a business’.

Role & Responsibilities

As a Principal within the PCE team at IQVIA, you will take on a variety of roles that focus primarily within the following core areas: client/project leadership, business development, and PCE/operational leadership roles. The main focus of a principal is to deliver outstanding client service, while building trusted relationships with new and existing clients that enhance the PCE brand. The principal’s success will be measured by the ability to take on larger and more complex projects, while opening up new business relationships to PCE, coaching and professionally developing team members, and contributing to the continuous improvement and development of the PCE function.

As a Principal within PCE, you will work directly with clients to develop business opportunities and deliver projects ensuring that delivery results are at high levels of client satisfaction, and strategic and scientific excellence. You will join a thriving PCE business with existing client accounts with scope for expansion, and the support of a broad array of IQVIA colleagues with connections to introduce PCE to new clients.

  • Develop and deliver insightful, value-added strategies that address complex client issues
  • Lead sales efforts, including uncovering opportunities, and responding to proposals, to win PCE work
  • Oversee PCE delivery teams who are executing PCE COA Consulting projects
  • Provide direction, advice, and intellectual leadership to clients and delivery teams
  • Lead PCE solution building and thought leadership initiatives
  • Contribute to the enhanced awareness of PCE in the marketplace, e.g. through speaking engagements, client meetings, and publications
  • Identify opportunities for expansion of PCE COA Consulting service offerings, internal and external to IQVIA, by developing and/or elevating new business opportunities through the identification of follow-on work and new leads
  • Support PCE community building with activities including recruitment, coaching, management of PCE resources and network development (both juniors and seniors) to collaborate with for delivery and/or business development purposes
  • Mentor, coach, and share subject matter expertise with others to help develop individuals and capabilities delivering world-class solutions for clients
  • Participate in annual performance review team processes
  • Engage in recruitment and selection of new staff
  • Remain current on industry, clients, and competitive trends and directions in order to anticipate and identify new business challenges and issues with assigned clients

About You


Candidates interested in joining our Patient Centered Endpoints team as a Principal should have:

  • Proven track record of identifying and closing business, ideally within the patient engagement space
  • Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships, identify client pain points, and develop custom solutions
  • Proven track record of successfully leading client delivery teams
  • Demonstrable analytical, interpretative and problem-solving skills
  • 8-10 years professional experience in consulting within the pharmaceutical and/or healthcare industry with evidence of career progression
  • Ability to speak with senior clients about patient-centered research and the associated methods, in a meaningful manner with depth of content knowledge
  • Knowledge of regulatory guidance documents and scientific guidelines relating to clinical outcome assessments
  • Able to draft abstracts, posters, oral presentations, and manuscripts
  • Able to conceptually fit individual scientific and strategy tasks together to determine how the overall project goal will be achieved
  • When presented with qualitative data, able to design an analysis plan and generate a report fit for client submission
  • Minimum of 3-5 years project management experience focused on multinational strategic consulting projects
  • Enables others to perform, sets clear direction and delegates fairly and appropriately, allowing direct reports the means to achieve their goals
  • Looks for opportunities to develop individuals by encouraging them to take on greater responsibility
  • Proven skills in identifying, recruiting, mentoring/coaching, and retaining top talent  
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills including presentations, chairing meetings, workshop facilitation, business and report writing
  • Strong capability in managing large and/or multiple projects and juggling priorities so that deadlines are met while retaining consistently high quality outcomes
  • Experience working in sizable/ multi-disciplined teams and leading staff
  • Experience in developing credible relationships with senior level managers and executives in the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with others in and across the organization to accomplish team goals
  • Knowledge of key issues and current developments in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries
  • Knowledge of consulting methodologies, tools and techniques
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem solving skills

In addition to the skills and experience above a Principal should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, graduate degree or MBA not required but a plus
  • A track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets, managing client/project revenue, leadership and people development
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written)
  • A willingness and ability to travel
