The Vice President (VP) Clinical Operations for North America is responsible to strategize, lead, and manage cross-region, department or functional teams to ensure that Parexel delivers quality projects to its clients and achieves agreed revenue margins. The VP is responsible for the regional strategy, managing and developing staff and their performance, continuously striving for operational excellence, controlling the budget, and interacting directly with clients in a way that results in repeat business.
The Vice President is responsible to ensure that appropriate management practices are in place (e.g., retention and development plans) to retain staff and maintain project and business continuity. The VP is responsible to actively promote new business by participating in project bids and client presentations as appropriate. The VP is an experienced leader responsible for liaising with senior levels or management within the organization and to deputize for the Senior Vice President as needed.
Skills
7 + years of leadership experience - managing teams of 100 +
10 + years of clinical trial experience - within the pharmaceutical industry, CRO preferred
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills (including experience in making
presentations at conferences, meetings, training sessions)
A flexible attitude with respect to work assignments and new learning
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong computing knowledge including but not limited to the Clinical Trial Management Systems (CTMS), Electronic Document Management System (EDMS), EDC, IWRS, and MS-Office products such as Excel and Word
Advanced ability and demonstrated strength in managing Managers and leading diverse teams
Advanced ability to successfully manage a full workload across multiple and varied projects/tasks with enthusiasm and prioritize workload with attention to detail
Outstanding negotiation, influencing and organizational skills
Demonstrable experience of stakeholder/relationship management with a client focused approach to work. Able to understand the business implications of decisions and impact on customer.
Advanced ability to manage and motivate direct reports and wider team.
Knowledge of the International pharmaceutical market and the services required by sales, marketing and operational support to achieve product success
An ability to assess situations and make and carry through difficult decisions
Broad therapeutic understanding
Strong clinical process management
Strong matrix management, collaboration in a complex environment
Removes obstacles that stand in the way of success and delivers value to clients on time and on budget with high quality
Recognizes connections and identifies synergies across the organization
Expects and reinforces first-time quality that delivers value as simple as possible
Education - Bachelors or Advanced Degree
