About Bulgarian Association of Clinical Research (BACR)

Bulgarian Association of Clinical Research (BACR) is a voluntary and independent non-governmental organisation, founded in 2003 in Sofia, Bulgaria. It is a local organisation representing the interests of pharmaceutical companies, contract research organisations (CROs) and professionals, involved in the field of clinical research in Bulgaria – regulatory and academic experts, healthcare professionals, investigators, lawyers, journalists, etc.

BACR strives to ensure:

High standard for the performance of clinical studies and compliance with the Bulgaria, EU and international regulations.
The professonals’ right to participate in the creation of regulatory documents, compliant with the international requirements and practice.
The possibility for the patients in Bulgaria to be treated with accessible, effective and safe medicines.


The membership in BACR is voluntary and open to Bulgarian and foreign individuals and organisations, active in the clinical studies area. For high achievements in the field of clinical research, a Bulgarian or foreign person or organisation may be granted with the title “honorable member”. Honorable members are being approved by the General Assembley, based on a proposal by the Management Board. Honorable members don’t pay a membership fee and don’t have the rights of regular members. They can’t be elected in the management or supervisory bodies of BACR.
