We are looking for conscientious, resilient, and inspiring individuals to join our team. As a Senior Executive Editor (SEE), your primary responsibility will be managing the Editorial Services department in the Global Medical Communications (GMC) division of ICON. The Editorial Services department provides medical editing and library support to all of GMC as part of a dedicated team servicing assigned clients. The SEE will be responsible for performance, retention, and development of the ES staff; oversee resourcing of all medical editor work for GMC to ensure timely delivery of high-quality and scientifically/medically accurate projects; and have direct medical editing responsibilities for a group of client teams. The Role

As Senior Executive Editor, communication and problem-solving skills are of utmost importance as you manage day-to-day responsibilities of staff oversight and editorial resourcing. In-depth medical editing experience with a background in copyediting, proofing, fact-checking, and formatting documents such as manuscripts, abstracts, slide presentations, and posters for medical publications/communications is expected and will be an important part of the role. The SEE role will fall across the following approximate allocations (individual client account teams may have specific needs that may alter these allocations as necessary):40% of your time will be devoted to management duties such asStaff retention and career developmentPerforming year-end reviews and performance assessmentsDay-to-day staffing needs concerning daily workload and scheduling time offOverseeing traffic site to allocate medical editing resourcing appropriatelyOverseeing Library budget for contracts and subscriptionsMaintaining department metrics to track workload from client teamsTraining of new medical editor staff, training of scientific staff in style and grammar, and onboarding of new GMC staffParticipation in activities and initiatives associated with the GMC leadership team30% of your time will be spent editing, proofing, fact-checking, and formatting documents, ensuringCorrect grammar, punctuation, spelling, and usage according to the American Medical Association Manual of StyleProper style has been followed based on company style guide, individual client style sheets, and/or journal/congress styleReferences have been edited, updated, and formatted using EndNoteClarity, consistency, and accuracy of all jobs assignedAuthor/writer changes have been correctly incorporatedJournal galley proofs have been accurately created from original submission document15% of your time will be devoted to supporting Library Services byDownloading journal/congress author guidelines in preparation for manuscript and abstract submissionCreating mock submission documents based on journal/congress submission guidelinesResearching journals/congresses for potential submission of client deliverablesPerforming literature searches based on keywords and parameters provided by client teamsOrdering articles for scientific staff for research purposes 10% of your time will be devoted to general editorial duties such asTrafficking work from assigned client teamUpdating client style sheets and house style guide as necessaryServing as point person for EndNote trouble-shootingLeading department meetings5% of your time will be devoted to company requirements such asRecording all time worked in Icon time management systemMaintaining goals in Performance section of WorkdayCompleting all mandatory iLearn courses and compliance training for select clientsMaintaining knowledge of required software (MS Office suite, Sharepoint, EndNote, Acrobat Pro, iThenticate) Performing responsibilities in a professional manner, meeting company mission and goalsPerforming any other duties as required or assigned
