Executive Director, (Clinical) Workforce Development

Reporting to the Executive Vice President of Clinical Development, The Executive Director of Workforce Development is responsible to build and drive the programs and infrastructure that accelerate the size and scope of the internal talent pool for key roles, starting with the Clinical Research Associate (CRA) to Clinical Operations Leader (COL) to Project Leader (PL), and eventually moving into other Clinical Development Functions.

Key focus areas include defining a detailed execution strategy, managing global workstreams, and partnering with key stakeholders across regions and Clinical Development Business Units to drive results.

Key Accountabilities Lead the management, oversight and execution of key development programs including ACCOLADE, PLACE and emerging CRA programs. Leverage these programs for other functions outside of Global Clinical Operations (GCO) and Global Project Leadership (GPL) in the future. Establish, gain acceptance, and manage budget to support infrastructure needs for the development programs, including a core team to drive implementation and success of the programs and retention of talent. Collaborate with Talent Acquisition (TA), Learning and Development (L&D), and Human Resources Business Partners (HRBP) to develop and implement an enhanced Emerging Talent program that creates job roles necessary for the future and trains qualified Candidates creating the future pipeline of talent for Clinical Operations. Work with Commercial and Clinical Development Leadership Team to develop approaches and programs ultimately driving Client acceptance of junior staff on Clinical Studies. Provide thought-leadership in partnership with HR and business leaders to proactively identify the critical workforce trends and requirements necessary to meet talent gaps in the future. Partner with Functions and TA to determine future critical role needs requiring program expansion and broadening. Develop analytical approaches to demonstrating ROI of these development programs. Partner closely with Clinical Development, Human Resources and Talent Acquisition to ensure a coordinated approach to both selection of candidates and mobility/career advancement for our internal talent pipeline. Ensure we build skill sets required to meet our clients’ needs and ensure forward-compatible success. Ensure a positive and interactive work environment to ensure the highest productivity and employee engagement. Drive successful performance management, talent management and communications for those in these development programs.

This position requires a proven history of setting and delivering on a vision, working as a partner and change agent, driving both strategy and execution, working with a cross functional project team and creating robust metrics to quantify impacts on a shift toward growth of business, increased speed of business delivery, and optimization of existing resources.

Delivering excellent results in a complex organization with an effective track record of deployment optimization is required. Experience leading major projects and change programs which impact the organization is required. Success in working effectively at senior management levels to impact and influence decision making is required. Experience developing and motivating teams is required. Change management, team leadership, and knowledge of factors that influence human behaviors and decision-making at the individual, group, and organizational level is required. Performance driven, but collaborative functional leader respected & respectful is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to organize and present information concisely to a variety of audiences is required. Education & Experience A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, HR Management, Industrial-Organizational Psychology or similar is strongly preferred. Organizational or functional leadership experience ideally in a Clinical Operations functional role The ideal candidate will come from an international organization and have a proven history of leading global strategic projects, executing on a strategy, and demonstrating results through robust application of data. Experience with workforce and financial planning, executive reporting, and global Project/Program Management experience required.
