Linguamatics joined IQVIA in 2019 as part of the Real-World Technology Platforms team and has become an integrated solution in broader IQVIA technology and clinical studies. Linguamatics has enhanced IQVIA capabilities by enabling new data extraction that has fuelled the growing artificial intelligence and machine learning (AIML) offerings.

Overview of the role

We are now seeking a Director, Operations who will take responsibility for operational oversight of the business.

You will need to help direct and inspire the team, and also support the growth of the business - selling global solutions to International clients. You will have a highly analytical and conceptual mindset combined with leadership skills and commercial acumen. You will be expected to take an active role in strategic decision-making, focusing both on short and medium-term priorities.

You will also be expected to support sales and oversee the delivery of selected large and/or high profile projects to ensure high levels of client satisfaction and repeat business, working collaboratively with both other global RWE teams and IQVIA corporate functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Help deliver the agreed EBITDA targets for the business, and support increased revenue growth from the historical average of 20% per annum.
  • Oversee, in conjunction with technical experts in the team, the delivery of high-quality projects on time and to budget with a continued high level of client satisfaction.
  • Manage contractual obligations for Linguamatics deals and the overall contract pipeline including contract negotiation
  • Budgeting, forecasting and upwards financial reporting activities, feeding into biweekly and quarterly financial reporting and Country Review process.
  • Take overall charge of headcount planning and the recruitment process to attract new team members into the team,  including making the business case for new headcount.
  • Actively participate in collaboration with other IQVIA colleagues in strategic development and capability building of IQVIA’s NLP capability.
  • Encourage innovation in delivery, via increased efficiency-saving techniques and/or outsourcing, options where possible.
  • Play an active role in the Linguamatics Leadership team, provide inspirational leadership and act as a role-model for team members.
  • Proactively seek out formal and informal feedback from the team and the business as a whole to understand broad themes, and address issues arising.
  • Actively pursue ways to improve performance by coaching and mentoring staff.
  • Work with regional and global colleagues to implement centrally-driven strategies in the Linguamatics business.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, TECHNICAL AND PERSONAL SKILLS

Qualifications

  • BA/BSc in science, mathematics, economics, computer science or a related discipline
  • PhD, MSc, or equivalent postgraduate qualification or MBA..

Desired technical skills and knowledge

  • Experience of working at leadership level with responsibility for leading business initiatives and teams
  • Commercial awareness and thorough understanding of the health technology and global pharmaceutical industry, gained through experience.
  • Good understanding of and interest in the international life sciences and healthcare environment
  • Familiarity with the software life cycle and commercial software development
  • Experience with legal and contracting is an asset
  • Numerate with good quantitative skills and competent in using Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to explain complex situations or offerings to lay clients and senior management stakeholders
