The Specimen Accessioner will be responsible for performing specimen accessioning, sample sorting and data entry in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment according to established standard operating procedures.</p> <p>The schedule for this position will be: 2nd shift (Tuesday-Saturday 5pm-1:30am)</p> <p><strong>Job Duties/Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li><span style="font-family: Symbol;"><span style="font: 7.0pt "Times New Roman";"> </span></span>Introduce and prepare biological specimens to the laboratory to ensure accurate processing</li> <li><span style="font-family: Symbol;"><span style="font: 7.0pt "Times New Roman";"> </span></span>Open specimens and pour off into secondary containers to prepare for analysis and testing</li> <li><span style="font-family: Symbol;"><span style="font: 7.0pt "Times New Roman";"> </span></span>Verify patient demographic information matches the test requisition form submitted</li> <li><span style="font-family: Symbol;"><span style="font: 7.0pt "Times New Roman";"> </span></span>Data entry of patient information into the computer system for tracking purposes</li> <li><span style="font-family: Symbol;"><span style="font: 7.0pt "Times New Roman";"> </span></span>Meet key production metrics and quality measures to ensure timely and accurate results</li> <li><span style="font-family: Symbol;"><span style="font: 7.0pt "Times New Roman";"> </span></span>Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas</li> <li><span style="font-family: Symbol;"><span style="font: 7.0pt "Times New Roman";"> </span></span>Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities when required</li> <li><span style="font-family: Symbol;"><span style="font: 7.0pt "Times New Roman";"> </span></span>Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples</li> <li><span style="font-family: Symbol;"><span style="font: 7.0pt "Times New Roman";"> </span></span>Resolve and document any problem specimens</li> <li><span style="font-family: Symbol;"><span style="font: 7.0pt "Times New Roman";"> </span></span>Handle and dispose of medical and chemical waste</li> <li><span style="font-family: Symbol;"><span style="font: 7.0pt "Times New Roman";"> </span></span>Comply with applicable environmental health and safety policies and procedures</li> <li><span style="font-family: Symbol;"><span style="font: 7.0pt "Times New Roman";"> </span></span>Operate automated instrumentation under supervision if necessary</li> </ul> </div>
