ExecuPharm/Parexel is looking for a Scientist 3 to work 2nd Shift on assignment at Merck in their Rahway, NJ location.

NOTE: this position will work predominantly 2nd shift. The schedule will be mainly in the afternoon/early evening (2 PM – 10 PM)

Description

• Analytical chemist position available in the Rahway, New Jersey research facility

• This is a laboratory-based scientific role tasked with experience in operating and maintaining a myriad of analytical instrumentation

Qualifications

• BS in analytical chemistry or a closely related field with at least 3years of hands-on laboratory experience

• MS in analytical chemistry or a closely related field with at least 1-2 years of hands-on laboratory experience

Required Skills and Experience

• Experience in routine and real-time testing for HPLC, GC, UV, IR, Titrations, KF and other wet chemistry methods

• Experience in HPLC and GC is required with an interest in expanding the candidate’s knowledge and background in HPLC and GC method development and optimization, validation, data analysis, and sample preparation techniques

• The successful candidate must be familiar with the routine use of modern analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, KF, UV/VIS, and IR spectroscopy

• Effective organizational, multi-tasking, and oral/written communications skills

• Ability to work under pressure and provide reliable results with quick turnarounds

• Consistently deliver high quality and fully compliant results and interact with a diverse customer base daily

• Comfortable working in a cGMP environment; knowledgeable in various GMP analytical activities, such as documentation procedures, abiding by relevant department SOPs and generation and second scientist review of GMP data

• Flexible work schedule required; third shift support (midnight to 7 AM) necessary an estimated 5 percent of the time

Desired Skills and Experience

• Experience with automated liquid handling systems (Tecan) for high throughput testing

• Experience with myriad of software platforms used in the compilation, processing and reporting of data, such as Waters Empower, RLIMS, LAB X, etc.

Responsibilities

• Generate, process and report GMP data in support mainly of the manufacturing pilot plants onsite

• Release of solvent raw materials, excipients and intermediates for GMP processing

• Conduct analytical method transfers from the project group to ensure method robustness

• Maintain and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation as needed; keep up with PM and calibration schedules for instrumentation throughout the lab

• Complete and stay current with GMP trainings, SOP revisions and updates to Data Integrity/ALCOA procedures

• Conduct and document investigations as appropriate

• Perform second scientist review of GMP data in electronic notebooks

• Collaborate with pilot plant staff and other customers to ensure proper timelines are met for real-time analytical support

• Partner with laboratory team to ensure laboratory is running efficiently
