We are seeking a System Engineer for our Microbial Solutions site located in Charleston, SC.

 

The System Engineer is responsible for analysing project requirements, both hardware/software, break it down to system requirement design and architecture to interact between subsystems and interfaces and not limited to developing the testing methodology to ensure a solid system design. As a System  Engineer, your role is to establish how failure modes can be identified earlier in the design process and data is propagated efficiently between applications/software modules, establish well defined API’s for inter and intra communication between and within systems and participate in the overall system architecture of software and instrument based solutions. There is opportunity to gain a deeper knowledge of various coding languages, tools, and frameworks including: C#, .NET, .NET CORE, Python, REST, SOAP API, Cloud integrations, sFTP, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, and to make impactful contributions in the development of great products.

The following are the job duties & responsibilities related to the System Engineer:

•    Participate in design decisions for new and existing application development, proactively escalating issues with propose alternative solutions to overcome obstacles.

•    Responsible for on-call duties during peak and non-peak hours, deploying fixes or workaround, and handling high severity issues, identifying root cause analysis working with the cross-functional teams.

•    Prepare risk assessments with appropriate levels of detail to ensure the system integration complies to pharmaceutical laboratory expectations.

•    Defines and documents the actions needed to identify architecture gaps in support of business objectives.

•    Develop testing strategies that will challenge the designs and identify areas that need improvement.

•    Participate and assist in new feature integration and testing, to ensure a robust and high-quality product. 

•    Participate in designing system architectures that involves hardware/software and create system requirements specification and design documents.

•    Create and propose system deployment ideas to our innovative enterprise products. Job Qualifications The following are the minimum qualifications related to the System Engineer:

 

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Computer Science or equivalent Engineering skillset and work experience in Software Engineering

Experience: 

•     5 years of total experience including 1+ years of experience in creating and maintaining System Requirements Specification, failure mode detection hardware/software for engineering R&D.

•    Experience in designing and developing new or enhancing existing systems .

•    An understanding of how to translate complex systems into sub-components and optimizing the design of both.

•    Experience in a regulated software development environment is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

•    Excellent critical systems integration thinking, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects in a fast-paced, changing environment

•    Understanding systems architecture and skills to bridge gaps between systems not limited to hardware/software preferred

•    Highly motivated self-starter with a desire to help others and act

•    Azure DevOps and cloud experience is a plus

•    Possess a strong communication skill, including written, verbal and presentation in English
