EHS Specialist II

<h2>Job Overview:</h2><ul><li style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; color: black;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 12pt;">Administers environmental, health, and safety programs to meet regulatory requirements and company goals.</span></li><li style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; color: black;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 12pt;">Provide technical expertise with regard to risk assessment activities so to minimize EHS related risk (e.g. fire, environmental releases, injuries and illnesses, etc.) to Covance.</span></li><li style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; color: black;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 12pt;">Develops and implements facility-wide policies, procedures, and EHS training programs to ensure compliance with applicable state/country regulatory requirements and industry standards on a country, regional and global basis.</span></li><li style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; color: black;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 12pt;">Inspects facilities and operations for regulatory and company policy compliance.</span></li><li style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; color: black;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 12pt;">Conducts accident and incident investigations.</span></li><li style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; color: black;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 12pt;">Actively promotes environmental, health, and safety activities, participates in committees and meetings, and provides miscellaneous services.</span></li><li style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; color: black;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 12pt;">May lead EHS Committee and Team activities, such as department safety teams, emergency response team, etc.</span></li><li style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; color: black;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 12pt;">May function as the Chemical Hygiene Officer, Radiation Safety Officer, Emergency Coordinator, Biological Safety Officer or Technical Lead.</span></li><li style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; color: black;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 12pt;">May function as a member or leader of EHS audit team.</span></li><li style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; color: black;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 12pt;">Initiate, establish and cultivate mutually beneficial relationships with internal and external clients. </span></li><li style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; color: black;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 12pt;">Promote positive relationships with government agencies. </span></li><li style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; color: black;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 12pt;">Motivate direct and indirect reporting staff to achieve desired results.</span></li><li style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; color: black;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 12pt;">Communicate effectively with site management and employees.</span></li><li style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; color: black;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 12pt;">Performs other related duties as assigned.</span></li></ul><h2>Education/Qualifications:</h2><ul><li style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; color: black;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 12pt;">Bachelor’s degree in a Science or Technical Field and minimum of 4 years EHS experience preferably in a laboratory or research and development environment; Advanced degree with 2 years EHS experience</span></li><li style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; color: black;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 12pt;">Professional Certification in a Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and Occupational Health or Environmental area preferred.</span></li></ul><h2>Experience:</h2><ul><li><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 12pt;">Professional Certification in a Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and Occupational Health or Environmental area preferred.</span></li></ul>
