We are seeking an Animal Husbandry Technician I for our Insourcing Solutions site located in San Diego.

The following are responsibilities related to the Animal Husbandry Technician I: Cares for the animals used in research and development studies. Performs duties related to the maintenance of experimental animals such as feeding and caring for animals, cleaning cages, holding animals for treatment by laboratory technician or maintaining inventory and animal identification records. Performs cleaning/sanitation of animal facility and equipment. Responsible for bio-safety and bio-security of the animals. May partner with pre-clinical investigators to assist and support veterinarians with surgery, dosing, post-op care and monitoring of animal studies.

The following are minimum qualifications related to the Animal Husbandry Technician I position: 

Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or related discipline or CVT/LVT/RVT and no experience OR High School Diploma/GED and one (1) year related husbandry and technical experience required.

Experience:  Minimum of one year directly related laboratory animal experience in an AAALAC accredited facility. 

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above. 

Certification/Licensure:  AALAS Certification at the ALAT level preferred. 

Other: Proficiency with basic animal identification methods. Ability to effectively follow verbal and written instructions and exhibit interpersonal skills that are conducive to effective communication and that contribute to a congenial work environment. Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner with coworkers, research staff, and managers. Strong organization skills and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal English communication skills. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
