Seeking a passionate and highly organized individual to join the Translational Medicine team. This laboratory operations position will help support the Clinical Genomics and Genetics and Clinical Flow Cytometry laboratories.

Role will strictly be laboratory operations, and not include any bench work. The Operations Assistant will assist scientists through tasks such as shipping and receiving, reagent and supply ordering, inventorying and stocking, lab cleanliness, safety, setting up equipment service & maintenance and record keeping for the labs. This role will involve cross-functional collaboration with other areas such as Facilities, Environmental Health and Safety, and Global Procurement.

Responsibilities

General Lab:

• Maintains laboratory inventory by checking stock to determine inventory levels, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipt of supplies

• Tracks status of orders and updates groups accordingly

• Coordinates with facilities to open and schedule work orders related to laboratory and office

Equipment:

• Schedules, tracks and documents equipment repair and maintenance with internal and external vendors

• Obtains capital equipment budgetary quotes and works with lab personnel on equipment specifications for new equipment

• Assists with activities related to temperature monitoring of refrigerators, freezers and incubatiors

Quality and Safety:

• Keeps detailed records of group and individual trainings

• Responsible for quarterly compliance review of Electronic Laboratory Notebooks (ELN) for respective groups

• May perform laboratory inspections and will be responsible for general safety and PPE compliance. Documents any follow-ups and corrective actions for deficiencies

• Assists laboratory with Biological Assessment Risk (BAR) certification renewals

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 0 to 1 year) or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience In some cases,an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Experience in safety, GxP, and in the labs specified above (or equivalent coursework) is a plus, but not required

Ability to multitask and prioritize workday based on shifting deadlines

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to leverage in a fast-paced and dynamic team environment

Proficiency in MS Office applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel to support laboratory operations, supply ordering, budgetary tracking, etc.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a larger team in a matrix environment
