In return, we’ll help you build a career that you can feel passionate about. Job Summary We are seeking a Mass Spectrometry Laboratory Manager for our Discovery site located Worcester.

 

The Mass Spec Lab Manager is responsible for oversight of the mass spec laboratories.  These duties include coordination and scheduling of maintenance of HPLC and mass spec instrumentation, organization and equipping of the mass spec laboratories, space utilization, and maintenance of the spare parts inventory.  The Mass Spec Labs Manager will assist with troubleshooting instrumentation and software issue be the lead trainer for the LC/MS/MS systems, and assist in the evaluation of new instrumentation.  

 

The following are responsibilities related to the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory Manager:

  Oversee LC/MS/MS metrology: Schedule and coordinate equipment maintenance Point of contact for LC/MS/MS service Ability to troubleshoot instrumentation problems Ability to correct minor instrumentation issues Maintain all calibration and maintenance records Assist with the organization and equipping of the Mass Spec Laboratories including spare parts Perform IQ/OQ/PQ testing on assigned instrumentation; Oversee in-house equipment maintenance for assigned instrumentation LC/MS/MS Configuration / Software Management Ability to install and configure MS and HPLC software Interface with IT to configure acquisition computers  Manage the software upgrade process LC/MS/MS Training Evaluate new mass spectrometric and chromatographic equipment and techniques Assist with scheduling coordination in the mass spec labs Interact independently with internal and external contacts Lead or coordinate mass spec lab training initiatives and process improvement efforts Mentor, assist, and train LC/MS/MS users Follow company SOPs, BOPs, Policies, and Practices

 

The following are minimum qualifications related to the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory Manager position:

 

Education:  Bachelor’s degree (B.A. /B.S.) or equivalent in Life Sciences, Computer Science or related discipline.  

Experience:  Minimum 7 years of working with and/or administering and supporting LC/MS applications. Strong understanding of drug discovery or related life science industry experience is required. 

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

Certification/Licensure:  None

Other:  In-depth knowledge of HPLC and mass spec instrumentation and software. Proficiency in MS Office and LIMS. This position requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal direction to meet multiple, simultaneous, time-sensitive deadlines. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to deliver informative, well-organized presentations. Ability to work well in a team environment. Familiarity with Sciex mass spectrometers and Agilent, Waters, and Shimadzu HPLCs is a plus.
