Thought Leadership Analyst

You will be working as a Thought Leadership Analyst for the IQVIA Institute for Human Data Science, responsible for both writing and managing the timely development and publication of high quality multi-stakeholder focused reports focused on the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. These publications will cover a broad set of healthcare industry topics and require collaboration with a diverse set of industry stakeholders. You will further support the Publications Director in managing the Institute publication process, maintaining quality and standards, and ensuring quality graphical and text content in these reports. The IQVIA Institute for Human Data Science leverages collaborative relationships in the public and private sectors to strengthen the vital role of information in advancing healthcare globally. Its mission is to provide key policy setters and decision makers in the global health sector with unique and transformational insights into healthcare dynamics derived from granular analysis of information. With access to IQVIA’s extensive global data assets, the Institute works in tandem with a broad set of healthcare stakeholders, including government agencies, academic institutions, the life sciences industry and payers, to drive a research agenda dedicated to addressing today’s healthcare challenges.

Essential Functions

  • Analyst/researcher that produces high quality content for use with stakeholders and engages in a professional way that enhances the reputation of the Institute.  
  • Prepares reports, information for client and industry presentations, industry events, publications/internet articles and website content. You will be responsible for all aspects of developing and delivering publications that support the Institute’s mission.
  • Analyzes trends in the pharmaceutical industry using both primary and secondary sources of data. Synthesizes complex technical and topical material on the healthcare and pharmaceutical markets to put together thoughtful written pieces relating to this research.
  • Follows instructions to perform standard analysis of standard datasets with high levels of quality and accuracy.
  • Semi-independently creates data queries and analyzes data to determine industry trends as they relate to clinical development, clinical trial types, therapy areas or disease segments, key market segments (large pharma, mid-size, generics), company activities, payer/regulator interactions, or sales of medicines.
  • Conducts primary interviews with key stakeholders – both internal and external to IQVIA.
  • Utilizes the full breadth of IQVIA’ data, analytics and consulting capabilities to produce consistent and insightful analysis on the industry. Extracts insights based on both internal and third-party information sources such as Cortellis/MARS or Trial Trove data.
  • Confirms availability of internal resources for the production of content so that deadlines are met. 
  • Executes work activities to full completion and at high quality and can anticipate and mitigate delays or complications.  Communicates project status, issues, decisions, and risks, with associated recommendations to Publications Director.
  • Leverages an understanding of US clinical development stages, clinical trials and regulatory procedures, as well as an understanding of different trial types and trial design to tell a story of how clinical research and development is changing.
  • Monitors general healthcare news feeds and identifies areas of relevance and interest.
  • Balance work across multiple (typically 2–3) projects at the same time
  • Creates and maintains comprehensive operational and project methodology documentation for consumption by both external stakeholders and internal team.
  • Works willingly and effectively with others in and across the organization to accomplish team goals. 

Qualifications

In addition to the skills and experience above, candidates should have:                                

  • Bachelor's Degree Required with PhD, or Master’s degree or equivalent (in medicine, pharmacology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or Public Health preferred)
  • Two (2) years of related work experience but more preferred in the pharmaceutical and/or healthcare industry such as consulting or clinical development.
  • Possesses knowledge and understanding of healthcare systems, with particular experience with trends in clinical trials, development processes and regulatory processes. Also has knowledge of key marketplace issues, recent developments and implications to key stakeholders including pharmaceutical manufacturers.
  • Science/health background helpful as individual should be capable of reading and understanding complex scientific and technical material relating to healthcare.
  • Possesses a high level of internet research capabilities and computer literacy: an expert user of Microsoft Power Point, Word and Excel. Experience with Tableau and Access a plus.
  • Data analysis experience using IQVIA or similar databases to examine aspects of the pharmaceutical industry a must with strong ability to QC data and strong math abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of IQVIA products and services a plus. Knowledge of life sciences commercial and longitudinal data sets similar to IQVIA MIDAS, NPA, NSP, EMR, Plans and Payer data a plus.
  • Individual should be aware of the risk of data bias, be able to formulate queries to avoid such bias, and detect when data artifacts are caused by factors other than the trend being tracked.
  • Demonstrable analytical, interpretative and problem-solving skills a must
  • Must be a detail-oriented individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to quality. Ability to synthesize information and reduce complexity a plus. Professional editing experience or strong editing skills a plus.
  • Self-starter that takes initiative and leans towards continuous business improvement and problem solving. Has the ability to think creatively and strategically and create innovative solutions where needed.
  • Good analytic, time management, interpersonal communication, and project management skills a must.
  • Experience building remote relationships and managing offshore resources a plus
