A Study to Evaluate Kefir in Patients Taking Antibiotics

The research company Mayo Clinic is conducting the clinical trial to Evaluate Kefir in Patients Taking Antibiotics.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and feasibility of kefir administration in critically ill adults.

It is planned to include 45 participants.

Actual study start date is July 1, 2022. The researchers expect to complete the study by June 30, 2023.

One primary outcome measure is Adverse Events, Number of adverse effects related to kefir administration including vomiting, aspiration, diarrhea, interactions with medications or tube feeds, bacteremia secondary to a bacterium in kefir.
