Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced, personable Business Finance Controller for our Discovery sites located in South San Francisco, CA.

The successful candidate will, as a member of the site leadership team, provide financial and business guidance in order to facilitate business decision making, whilst maintaining a robust accounting and control environment

Specific Responsibilities will include:

Plans and conducts complex studies to determine cost of business activities. Recommends budget adjustments, and other cost improvement measures. Analyzes complex financial data and extracts and defines relevant information; interprets data for the purpose of determining past financial performance and/or to project a financial probability (e.g. weekly / monthly forecasting) Reviews costs and performs cost benefit analysis related to projects and/or programs. Performs complex statistical, cost and financial analysis of data. Develops financial reports for forecasting, trending and results analysis. Interprets financial transactions in order for Sr. Management to make economic or business decisions. Supports the execution of the strategic planning and forecasting process. Prepares and presents materials to stakeholders (e.g. budget, monthly business reviews). Assist in the development of management reporting and planning systems and tools. Ensures SOX and other regulatory compliance. Develop new approaches, processes or methods to solve new business problems, act as an agent of change and continuously reevaluate processes to maximize financial performance of sites. Working with Corporate Accounting, Shared service functions and Internal Audit staff to ensure site adherence to corporate governance standards (e.g. Sarbanes-Oxley), pertinent regulatory requirements and to corporate finance/accounting policies, practices and procedures.

Job Qualifications The following are minimum requirements related to the Business Finance Controller position:

Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or the equivalent in Accounting, Finance or a directly related discipline

Experience: Minimum 7 years related experience in accounting or finance with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in financial analysis.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

Certification/Licensure: MBA, CPA or CMA designation preferred.

Other: Comprehensive understanding of operational, sales and financial issues for each assigned business unit is required. Excellent organization, good judgment, diplomacy and multi-tasking ability. High degree of integrity and professionalism. Demonstrated technical proficiency in Microsoft office suite (specifically Microsoft Excel). Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and organizational skills with superior attention to detail.
