In return, we’ll help you build a career that you can feel passionate about. Job Summary Supervise RCS staff.  Responsible for RCS operations including shipping, receiving, inventory accuracy. Prioritize work flow.   Oversee packaging of materials according to regulations.  Coordinate across the site and the Company.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

•    Oversee daily operation activities and supervise employees.  Ensure optimum group performance.    

•    Recom¬mend personnel actions, including hiring, promotions and raises.  Partner with Human Resources and depart¬mental management to assist in the handling of disciplinary issues.   

•    Identify training and development needs of direct reports.  Assist in the development, implementa¬tion and delivery of depart¬mental training programs; ensure that direct reports receive departmental orien¬tation and necessary on-the-job training.  Develop and implement a departmental plan for backup and succession of key technical personnel.

•    Prepare and deliver approved salary and performance reviews of direct reports.  

•    Schedule overtime as authorized, review and approve time cards and coordinate vacation/time off schedules.

•    Recommend short-range operating objectives, organizational structure and staffing requirements and assist in development of departmental budget.

•    Recommend and implement techniques to improve productivity, increase efficiencies, cut costs, take advantage of opportunities, and maintain state-of-the-art practices.

•    Implement procedures for the dept for weekly scheduling and workload prioritizing of studies for shipping, receiving, and transferring study material. 

•    Prepare laboratory study files for incoming shipments that include controlled document forms for wet tissues, paraffin blocks, slides, and frozen samples.   

•    Work directly with clients and sponsors on shipping and receiving inquires in a Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) Environment 

•    Ensure that departmental equipment is maintained in good working condition and that departmental area is maintained in a clean and orderly condition.  

•    Coordinate sample shipments with internal laboratory personnel to ensure accurate, timely delivery to clients. Job Qualifications UALIFICATIONS:

•    Education:   High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.) required. Associate’s degree (A.A./A.S.) or equivalent in a related field preferred. 

•    Experience:   3-5 years of shipping experience is required; experience handling hazardous materials preferred. Priority for those with supervisory experience. 

•    An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

•     Other:   Must possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities; computer literacy with database and word processing skills; the ability to interact appropriately with all levels of staff and attention to detail. Must possess effective supervisory and communication skills and ability to gain cooperation from others.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

•    Must be able to lift, move, manipulate, and/or hold heavy objects up to 50 lbs; this includes work materials, equipment, and/or supplies while reaching, bending, stooping or climbing stairs.  

•    Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time while performing tasks. 

•     

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

•    General office environment

•    May work in a chemical fume hood

•    May work with sharp objects

•    Regularly wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in a lab setting

•    Regularly work with or near toxic or caustic chemicals
