Reporting directly to the Department Manager, the Lab Supervisor acts as the primary point of contact in matters pertaining to area of responsibility within the laboratory. Responsible for adherence to established guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures of this department. The Supervisor assists in the development, implementation, and delivery of departmental programs; ensure that direct reports receive departmental orientation and required training. This position can be laboratory bench based or inside of the animal vivarium. Responsibilities Various responsibilities listed below may be applicable to Formulations Lab, Animal Care Lab, or Necropsy Lab. If you possess any of these skills, we encourage you to apply!

•    Monitor performance of direct reports. Provide coaching and mentorship as needed. Write and administer performance reviews

•    May assist in the development and maintaining department budget

•    Makes recommendations for and implements ideas for improving the effectiveness of policy or practices

•    Collaborate and confirm all appropriate laboratories and personnel are aware of study specific requirements

•    Supervise the formulations, in-life, or necropsy portions of animal studies where applicable

•    May perform and/or supervise the handling, dose administration, bleeding and/or other laboratory manipulations of Rats, Mice and rabbits on pharmaceutical studies 

•    Assign and manage specific tasks to animal care personnel such as filter changes, sanitizing, cage changes, watering, feeding, mopping, sweeping, etc…

•    Oversee cleaning of other laboratories and common facilities

•    Record and compile required data for animal care records according to SOP requirements 

•    Supervise the preparation and may prepare formulations (solutions and suspensions) for administration to study animals 

•    Ensure formulary study samples are collected, packed, and shipped properly and on time 

•    Review formulation raw data and maintenance records as required by SOP 

•    Ensure adequate supplies of all equipment/materials during course of study 

•    May perform and/or supervise the necropsy/autopsy, blood collection and data collection of Rats, Mice and rabbits Job Qualifications Full Time – Flexible Work Schedule - Includes Weekends and Holidays on a Rotating Basis 

Education: 

•    BS in Life Science or related field - preferred

Experience: 

•    Minimum three years’ experience working in laboratory environment required

•    Leadership experience preferred 

•    An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above

•    Strong communication skills, time management skills and computer software experience required
