Job Summary

We are seeking a Supervisor- Metrology for our Metrology department at our Mattawan, MI location.

A Supervisor - Metrology is responsible for: managing and assisting staff performing qualification, maintenance, testing and calibration of lab instrumentation & equipment; overseeing staff growth and development; and providing technical expertise for the development and improvement of best practices. The individual in this role also manages resources; collaborates with other department/site management regarding metrology practices and processes; provides leadership and direction to the department staff in support of the department’s goals; and provides consultation and customer service to internal and external customers.

  • Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws to include interviewing, hiring, training, and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and completing annual performance review on or before due date; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Provide leadership and motivation to departmental personnel.
  • Recommend and implement techniques to achieve optimum performance, improve productivity, increase efficiencies, and reduce costs.
  • Coordinate and assist with qualification, maintenance, testing and calibration of lab instrumentation and equipment.
  • Assist with maintaining, developing, and harmonizing standard operating procedures.
  • Assist in the development of department operating and spending budgets.
  • Communicate the metrology vision, strategy, and tactics to the team, site management, company management, and internal customers.

The pay range for this position is $74,500- $82,000. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.

Job Qualifications

Qualifications (Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities required to accomplish the essential functions) include but are not limited to:

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.) or equivalent, preferred. Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college, recommended. Bachelors (BA/BS) degree in a scientific discipline strongly recommended.
  • Experience: 2 or more years of operations experience and/or 2 years of metrology/equipment experience; familiarity with metrology/equipment, testing and qualification paperwork, and calibration process and scheduling.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, problem solve, handle multiple projects, meet deadlines, make executive decisions, and work well in a flexible, team-oriented, deadline driven environment.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing at all levels inside and outside the organization.
  • Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Computer skills, commensurate with Essential Functions, including the ability to learn a validated system.
  • Ability to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to evenings, weekends, extended shifts, and/or extra shifts, sometimes on short notice.
