Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Manager- Metrology for our Metrology department in Mattawan, MI.

A Senior Manager, Metrology is responsible for management of a cross-site metrology program, which includes managing the use and care of the sites’ complex and varied instrumentation, their systems, and standard operating procedures (SOP’s).  The individual in this role will also be responsible for: providing technical expertise for the development and improvement of best practices; managing resources/budgets; overseeing staff training; collaborating with other department/site management regarding metrology practices and processes; providing leadership and direction to the department staff in support of the department’s goals; and providing consultation and customer service to internal and external customers.

Essential Functions (The fundamental Duties & Responsibilities of the role (products and services provided/results accomplished) include, but are not limited to, those listed: 

  • Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws to include interviewing, hiring, training, and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and completing annual performance review on or before due date; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Lead a cross-site team to evaluate and harmonize instrument maintenance best practices, and also develop and harmonize standard operating procedures (SOPs) and data capture.
  • Oversee the Midwest Metrology program, including short- and long-term operating objectives, organizational structure, and staffing requirements.
  • Work closely with the procurement team reviewing vendor contracts and instrument maintenance service to verify that services provided are harmonized across sites.
  • Recommend and implement techniques to achieve optimum performance, improve productivity, increase efficiencies, and reduce costs.
  • Author requests, including justifications, for additional capital expenditures, human resources, or other resources, as required to meet the business needs; and organize, plan, maintain, and track budgets and spending vs. revenue; show accountability for metrology’s role in profit and loss of laboratory sciences function at each site.
  • Communicate the metrology vision, strategy, and tactics to the team, site management, company management, and internal customers.

The pay range for this position is $117,000- $122,000. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
