In return, we’ll help you build a career that you can feel passionate about. Job Summary We are seeking anAnimal Care Technician 4 for our Insourcing Solutions Department located in New Haven, CT.

Provide oversight and support to the animal care program and the animal care technicians under the direction of the on-site facility manager. Cares for the animals used in research and development studies. Performs duties related to the maintenance of experimental animals such as feeding and caring for animals, cleaning cages, holding animals for treatment by laboratory technician or maintaining inventory and animal identification records. Performs cleaning/sanitation of animal facility and equipment. Responsible for bio-safety and bio-security of the animals. May partner with pre-clinical investigators to assist and support veterinarians with surgery, dosing, post-op care and monitoring of animal studies. Understand of and regularly utilize available information resources and systems ((e.g., SOPs, policies, computer applications).

The following are responsibilities relate to Animal Care Technician 4: Assist facility manager in creating the husbandry work schedule for the daily cage changing procedures as well as the additional duty assignments. Assist facility manager in creating animal enrichment schedule and evaluating new items. Provide leadership and guidance to the husbandry staff on operations and facility issues. Specific responsibilities include investigating operational issues, including gathering information and details, compiling the information, and submitting/presenting it along with recommendation(s) for resolution of the situation/issue to the facility manager. Provide training to new hires in the duties and responsibilities of animal care and facility operations.

The following are minimum qualifications related to the Animal Care Technician 4position: Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in animal or life sciences field preferred. Experience: Five or more year’s related animal care and handling experience required in combination with facility and equipment knowledge. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above. Certification/Licensure: LAT level or above preferred Other: Ability to effectively follow verbal and written instructions and exhibit interpersonal skills that are conducive to effective communication and that contribute to a congenial work environment. Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner with coworkers, research staff, and managers. Strong organization skills and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal English communication skills. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
