  Job Summary A Director, Bioanalytical Chemistry is responsible for: overseeing laboratory personnel, products, and services; managing resources/budgets, continuous improvement initiatives; compliance with regulations; and preparing for future business growth, including developing scientific bench strength and technological capabilities. The individual in this role provides consulting, mentoring, and may function as a Principal Investigator, Study Director, Individual Scientist or Project Scientist.

Essential Functions (The fundamental Duties & Responsibilities of the role (products and services provided/results accomplished) include, but are not limited to, those listed:  Oversee the design, conduct, interpretation, and reporting of studies; may provide lead authorship of internal study reports; and assist with providing costing estimates for components of applicable studies. Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws to include interviewing, hiring, training, and developing employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance and completing annual performance review on or before due date; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Provide vision and determines business priorities; lead planning, including resource management, budgeting, and study coordination; align operational resources with the current needs of the business, especially the needs of internal customers, such as, Project Scientists; and manages cross-service line interdependencies in collaboration with organizational leadership. Develop resources for growth of products and services for future business; lead the implementation of new procedures and refinement of existing procedures to meet current and future business needs; and provide short- and long-term solutions that support continuous improvement. Author requests, including justifications for additional capital expenditures, human resources, or other resources required to meet the business needs; and organize, plan, maintain, and track budgets and spending vs. revenue. Establish, review, and/or approve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), protocols, policies, best practices, and study procedures; approve training programs; verify that laboratory tasks and operations are carried out in compliance with SOPs, protocols, and with the requirements of government/regulatory/certifying agencies.  Job Qualifications Qualifications (Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities required to accomplish the essential functions) include but are not limited to: Bachelor’s/Master’s/Doctorate degree in relevant field with 15 or more years of relevant experience, including at least 8 years in a leadership role; contract research organization experience preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above. Expert knowledge of GxPs and applicable industry guidelines. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing at all levels inside and outside the organization. Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite. Computer skills, commensurate with Essential Functions, including the ability to learn a validated system. Ability to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to evenings, weekends, extended shifts, and/or extra shifts; sometimes on short notice. Ability to work under specific time constraints.
