About the Team : 

Genetic toxicology is the study of the effects of chemical and physical agents on genetic material with the aim to evaluate their potential to cause genotoxic or mutagenic events. The assays conducted in the department are used to assess the potential of a substance to cause DNA damage by investigating its ability to cause increases in DNA strand breaks, point mutations and chromosome breaks and/or chromosome loss. 

 

 Internship Assignment Summary: 

To provide assistance in the performing and data recording of any aspects of departmental assays, both in vitro and in vivo where applicable, in compliance with appropriate SOPs, GLPs, and regulatory guidelines. Duties include routine procedures and housekeeping duties associated with the day to day running of the laboratory areas Responsibility to maintain lab cleanliness, supplies and tidiness (cleaning, calibrations, reagent prep and disposal, waste disposal etc.) Assists to maintain laboratory equipment, equipment records within laboratory areas Assists in the production of laboratory work sheets for standard assays Assists in the preparation and performance of standard assay(s) in base lab area Assists in the accurate recording and data checking of study and laboratory raw data

 Education/Qualifications:

Working towards bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Biology, Genetics, Microbiology or similar. Experience:Communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills. Excellent attention to detail. Ability to accurately read, record, and communicate information. Ability to perform mathematical calculations. Familiarity with standard spreadsheet and word-processing software applications Communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills.  Knowledge and understanding of GLP and aseptic techniques would be advantageous.
