As an Associate Automation Specialist you will provide preventative maintenance in support of liquid handling equipment and may operate equipment in support of high throughput sample analysis.

Summarized Purpose:

Provides preventative maintenance (records keeping and basic troubleshooting) in support of liquid handling systems/automation equipment/ lab robotics.

May operate equipment in support of high throughput sample analysis.

Essential Functions:

Maintains weekly and monthly maintenance schedule as required for liquid handling workstations and other high-end instrumentation with supervision. Additionally, may assist and train laboratory personnel on maintenance activities as required. Responsible for performing high-throughput analysis as required on an automated platform, and trains other staff for high throughput analysis. Assists in liquid class testing for liquid handling workstations with supervision. Assists in implementing new scripts/methods through developmental testing with supervision. Executes scientific assays using a variety of technologies/concepts with supervision. With supervision, responds to and aids lab personnel in error handling on liquid handling systems. Trains in development of liquid handling workstation scripts based off of scientific assay methods.PPDLABS

In some cases an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Experience or training working with lab equipment and instrumentationExperience with liquid handling equipment and lab automation a plus (such as Hamilton, TECAN, Gyros or similar)Proficiently does the following with training: operates analytical instrumentation, calculates and analyzes data, and records data in adherence with PPD SOPs and GLPsKnowledge of basic automated platform software use and minor programming a plusKnowledge or experience with of high-throughput automated sample analysis organization and structureProficient in weekly and monthly maintenance events for automated liquid handlersProficient in training of other laboratory staff for preventative maintenance activities and/or high throughput automated sample analysisProficiently does the following with training: operates analytical instrumentation, calculates and analyzes data, and records data in adherence with PPD SOPs and GLPs
