Job Summary In this position, individuals will serve as a Scientific team member for the Immunology and Biomarkers group in the Laboratory Sciences department.  This position requires expertise in all aspects of the skills necessary to satisfy the overall responsibilities of the scientific and operational conduct of immunology (cell-based assays and flow cytometry) and biomarker (ELISA, ECL)  methods development, validation, and sample analysis.  The position is largely focused upon leveraging the individual’s scientific strength, hands-on expertise and experience.  The position will also involve mentoring junior staff and interacting with clients on a regular basis. Formal course-work or training in immunology is preferred.

 

The following are minimum qualifications related to the Research Scientist 1 position:

  Education:  Bachelor’s Degree (B.S./B.A) or equivalent in a scientific related discipline. Related Master’s degree (M.S./M.A.) or Ph.D/D.V.M. preferred. Experience:  Five to seven years previous directly related laboratory experience in immunoanalytical experimental design and execution, data collection, data analysis and interpretation, and result presentation. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above. Certification/Licensure:  None. Other:  Exceptional analytical and problem solving capabilities. Full understanding of regulatory requirements of study types assigned, as well as Testing Facility SOPs and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs), as appropriate. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a team environment. Able to prioritize work and meet deadlines under minimal direction. Proficiency in the use of standard software including Microsoft® Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc. and with standard laboratory calculations. Proficiency in the use of analytical instrumentation software such as SoftMax Pro, MSD, and Watson with the ability to troubleshoot for routine and non-routine work.
