Job Purpose:

The IT Change and Configuration Specialist will work closely with all other teams in the identification, classification and specification of configuration items (CIs) and their inter-relationships. Responsible for ensuring that the IT Change Management process is fit for purpose and used correctly. Ensuring Change controls are in place and governance of all IT Changes is implemented and maintained, to provide effective control and reduction of risk to the availability, performance, security and compliance of business services.

The role takes a holistic, end to end perspective of the Service(s) and ensures that any cross-functional or internal/external team or technology issues are minimized and do not negatively impact on the customers of the service(s).

Key Accountabilities:

To promote IT Service Management good practice, such as the ITIL Framework, in all areas of work and assess the success of this for the end users. Leads the assessment, analysis, development, documentation and implementation of Changes based on the quality of RFCs and adherence to the prescribed Change Management process. Developing implementation plans for complex RFCs Evaluates risks to the integrity of the service environment, in proposed Change implementations Reviews effectiveness of Change implementations Suggests improvements to organizational procedures governing Change Management Agrees scope of Configuration Management policies, processes and work instructions. Identifies appropriate tools and techniques to ensure CI data is accurate, current and complete. Contributes to the development of Configuration Management strategies, policies, standards and guidelines. Ensures that operational processes are in place to maintain secure configuration, consistent classification and management of CIs, and for the verification and audit of configuration records. Ensures that users comply with identification standards for object types, environments, processes, lifecycles, documentation, versions, formats, baselines, releases and templates. Performs internal, or assists with external, CI audits. Ensure IT Service Customer/Consumer satisfaction with the IT Services delivered. Ensure the highest level of IT service quality, closely liaising with IT Service Providers, Service Management process owners and managers, Corporate IT, Solution Groups, and other stakeholders etc. Compiles operational metrics and performance reporting.

QualificationsSkills: Proven track record of Change and Configuration Management within a large-scale, enterprise technical environment is essential Understanding of complex IT Change Management Operations Solid understanding of a CMDB and the linkages to all other ITIL processes Experience of strong internal and external client and stakeholder engagement skills Basic Technical knowledge of the modern IT stack. ITIL certified; promoter of service excellence Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills. Understanding of the SIAM Model. Knowledge and Experience : Experience in an IT Service Delivery function, including solid experience of dealing with Change and Configuration Management, typically gained over 3-5 years. Experience using ServiceNow or other Major ITSM Tools ITIL Certified Experience working with other ITSM teams such as Incident Management, Problem Management, Release Management and Event Management Has experience communicating across operational, business and customer boundaries, can communicate IT service performance in non-technical, business-oriented language. Experience producing high quality reports. Extensive experience in command and control scenarios.

Education: BSc in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent working experience.
